If you want an affordable MBA within your means, you can go to UM if you are staying in KL.

At least Universiti of Malaya has a higher QS ranking compared to some of the MBAs offered by private colleges collaborating with their partner universities.

UM ranks better compared to University of Strathclyde, Heriot-Watt University, University of Wollongong (INTI), University of Sunderland (Segi), York St John University (Segi), Victoria University (Sunway). Some might think it's good just because they see a foreign name.  wink.gif

If you are willing to invest more on MBA, then go to the top schools as suggested by Alaskanbunny.

If you are looking for flexibility, then no choice but to look at the Open Universities
*
Be careful when you make such comparison.

I would have to say that ranking is very subjective, depending on which body and how they assess it. For example, QS ranking is different from FT ranking.

It's always better to look at the quality of the programme itself, rather than just the ranking. When you talk about quality, check the accreditation bodies attached to the programme.

University of Strathclyde is the only one out of 2 in Malaysia that has triple accreditation (AMBA, EQUIS & AACSB) with tip-top teaching quality. They're definitely ranked higher than UM (which only has accreditation from AMBA).

Cheers!

Im a working professional with about 14 years experience working in MNC's holding a upper management position.

What's the best part time MBA program currently being offered in Malaysia that's globally recognised by AACSB, AMBA or EQUIS or with Triple Accreditation?

Cost is not a concern. Quality and global recognition is.

Hi there

Here's the answer to your questions:

1) Whats the total cost of the MBA program? ---> RM65,000 (with 4 semesters installment scheme)

2) Do i need any other qualification besides a Bachelor's Degree? ---> minimum requirements are: age of at least 25 years old, bachelor degree with at least 3 years working experience OR diploma with at least 5 years working experience. Please keep in mind that although candidates meet the minimum requirements, they would still need to go through several assessments by the university before being accepted.

3) How does this compare with Sunway's Lancaster Uni's MBA program? ---> Well, I can only compare based on the FT Global MBA Ranking 2014 where Strathclyde ranked at 73rd (you may check the details here: FT Global MBA Ranking 2014); Also, we are both triple accredited university. You may do some research to find out the differences as I can't be speaking on behalf of Lancaster. If you're available, do drop by our center tomorrow (23 August) from 11am onwards for the Open Day. There are much more we would like to share with you.

Thanks

Recently I just finished my Degree in Computer in Science, I plan go study MBA, it's look great in career if you have MBA, So any MBA holder here and provide some information? biggrin.gif

Hi there,

Yes it is no doubt that you'll gain a lot by pursuing for an MBA, but it doesn't promise that you'll definitely be a manager or director. You still need to work for it and apply what you learn along the way.

Btw, for you personally, I would recommend to gain more experience in your job now and wait until you have at least 3 to 4 years working experience before applying into an MBA. Most prestigious MBA providers (I am talking about the high ranking, triple accreditations business school here) usually set a minimum requirement of a good bachelor degree (2nd class and above only), with at least 3 years work experience. Anything below will be at the discretion of the university, based on your career profile.

If you're interested, do check Strathclyde MBA, one of the highest ranking MBA you can find in Malaysia. Next intake is in April 2015.

Thanks!

Hi all,
I often heard how one can plan for switching line or industry after getting an MBA. Anyone out there with real life experience can share how they did it?
For example, if one is in finance, ie a finance controller is it possible to switch to become a HR manager because of the MBA? I have my doubts but really would like to listen to those who "did" it.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi there

This is actually a very interesting question to talk about. At Strathclyde, we have plenty of graduates who started off from a different industry and change completely upon graduation.

One example is from the article published in The Star Postgraduate supplement today,
Mr. Nicholas Fong, who was an engineer when he started his MBA study at Strathclyde, and is now attached to a banking institution in Malaysia as a strategist.

If you like, I can connect you to any of our alumni that has gone through this, and hear from them directly.

Thanks and all the best!

Hello, I lost track of this thread 2 years ago after moving to SG from Australia. Planning to take on MBA in Malaysia due to cheaper cost and also I have accommodation and car in KL. Was thinking of doing full time in Nottingham initially but it seemed like Lancaster MBA and the Strathclyde MBA are the more recommended ones here.  Any advice regarding this ?

Hi there

Do you mind sharing when did you apply to CDC/Strathclyde and what's your full name (you may PM me too)? Perhaps I can help look into it? Strathclyde doesn't simply reject any candidate, especially not with the numbers of experience you have. Have you been interviewed by the university?

Thanks
