blind nationalism is what built japan into what it is today.

I would suggest that you go and dig up Mahathir's comments in regards to the Japanese, both his recent comparisons in regards to the ability of the Japanese to take personal responsibility for any sort of mess ups, as well as his far earlier words in regards to the professionalism, integrity and work habits of the Japanese (part of the Look East policy in the 1980s).

Such is what that had built Japan into what it is today, and not blind nationalism.

that's what dr.mahathir feed u, with his look east policy... mitsu after sucking proton also lose $$$... haih

Actually no. To be fair to Mahathir, he had never stressed at all on the blind nationalism as part of Japan's strong points. I suggest that you go and examine what the look east policy is actually about.

However to be honest as well, the look east policy is not without its flaws, in the sense that attempting to emulate Japan's strong points is just not practical due to both the social and political climate in Malaysia.

Ah, but they got the right attitude and the right approach. They took the best from China and the West, modified it to fit with their local customs and voila: a world power.

What about us? What is our attitude ("tidak apa") and what is our approach (NEP)?
It is not nationalism that we have, but an obsession with race: that one race has some god-given right above all others.

fact is this is malaysia. a multicultural land. japan korea and china are all one race one religion countries. they dont have to worry about that. but still if you take any east asian state and see how they treat the minorities its disgraceful. look at the hmong in thailand and laos. terrible. fact is .
*
Fact is, in Malaysia, the so called 'minorities' actually forms up to 40% of the population. That's not such a small minority as well. With that in mind, unless such issues are resolved, Malaysia will simply not get anywhere at all, except perhaps contributing to the growth of other countries (as seen by the brain drain issue faced for the last few decades).

And so such are part of the reasons why the local universities in Malaysia are in such a bad state, as well as the primary reason why there's so much demand (and thus business) for foreign universities to set up local campuses in Malaysia.

if u know that the ranking for local MBA is not much different, there u would like to found out from those graduated or studying in local MBA.
I have seen the post in MBA...I am not interested in foreign MBA that taught locally.

thanks for ur unproductive opinion

Who said the rankings for local MBAs are 'not much different'? Is there even a ranking table for local MBAs? Would you rank an MBA from, say, KUTPM to be 'not much different' from an MBA from UM? Please get your bearings right.

Those who has do some reserch may know you will only get the ranking of ancient old ranking from Asian Inc. This is some years back and defiantely not a good guidance.
Ranking for Malaysia is not existence in TopMBA ranking.
So if you have no knowledege in this, don't be rude. We have enough uncivilised forumers although they are minorities, and we definately no need one that not come here to seek or provide constructive info, opinion or view.If you want to make chaos, just ignore this thread to others place.
To others forumers
First hand info from those study in local MBA cyrrently or before is the betetr way as the ranking is yrs ago and can not refelcts the current condition.
I believe although of the lower quality (depends which MBA u compare with), there are ppl that interested local MBA due to some reaons I listed
1. Lower tuition fee (some even below RM20k)
2. location (depends on the place u work or stay)
3. Doubt of oversea MBA that taught in collge. Yes, MBS at SUnway and University of Nottingham not in this category, but others MBA from oversea from college not certainly higher quality.
4. No need GMAT. Insead, LBS, NUS, Warwick Business school, all require high GMAT score. Even NUS need a 600, others at least above 650.
No one here to arguing local MBA is not 1 tier, I think all the people here know that. No argument. But how bad or how good it is, this is what we want to discuss here.

Lets continue this thread with good discusiion manner

Any info from ppl with MBAs from IPTAs would be good. We can all pick their brains.

You want to go to a B-school that doesn't use GMAT for screening? Then why go for an MBA at all?

Hi guys,

I am looking at some MBA programmes but am sort of on a budget. A couple of these that caught my attention are:

- University of Ballarat (AU) at Unity College
- Nottingham Trent University (UK) at Olympia College

The costs of these are comparatively low (in the region of mid to upper RM20k). Have done some research on the Internet but have not found anything convincing enough for me to lean either way...

So was hoping to get some info here as well... Anyone here have / know anyone with any experience with these 2? Suggestions and advice welcome. Thanks!

All, I know there is a thread of MBA.
However, I just want to know the quality of the local MBA.
Some said, not worth taking a local brand MBA or less prospect.
I list down some of the local MBA
MMU
UM
UPM
UKM
UTM
UUM

Any one study or graduated form the above MBA?
Mind to share your experience and also your current working after MBA??

Thanks for sharing.
We all know a prestigious MBA, like Manchester from Sunway and Nottingham are costly.
Local one is more affordable. But is it worth the value (time and money).

hi
when are u planning to take ur MBA?
im also thinking to take mine soon, maybe this year.. probably UIA/ IIUM

my colleague just graduated his MBA from UIA.. his honest comment is UIA's program is good and the people that take the MBA there are from top management positions i.e VPs, managers and carries with them alot of experience which is a plus if you were to take an MBA...having good and quality peers in a class will nourish you with more 1st hand experience..

you have an option to choose from 4 concentration, each student has to choose one:
1-general mgmt
2-strategic mgmt
3-finance
4-islamic banking & finance

taking a specialization will focus a student in that course of study and prepare you to have more skills in it...

there fee is comparable to other local MBAs ~rm20k

you can check more info at thier website.. oh the intake is 3 times a year: march july and november...

hope that helps

You're reiterating what I said, that there is no ranking table for Malaysian MBAs. You have your bearings right on this one.

UTM IBS

UM
http://ccm.um.edu.my/umweb/fpp/MBA/Overview_MBA.pdf

UTM IBS does provide weekend MBA. UM and UPM doesnt provide weekend classes.
UM provide more minor, UPM is too general in my opinion and UTM IBS is concentrate in technological MBA

Added on August 5, 2008, 9:51 pmOn sunday I have attend a MBA preview form MSU, Management Science University which is formerly call PTPL
I found that this new MBA which is only about 2 yrs plus of their first batch is surprisingly exceed my expectations.
Besides normal lecture, they also encourage innovative teaching.
Encourage student think out of the box, they will have class outside the lecture hall, such as survey or activities in shopping complex.
They also build up their students networking recently.
What surprise me is
1. they teach u presentation skill beside the syllabus
2. teach u the manner when in western dining, business dining etc
3. teach u play golf (with minimal cost)

The founder of MSU MBA, is also former MMU MBA founder.
The classroom and facitilities INkLsentral, I have to said, is no more better than an ordinary tuition center.
However, this MUS at least not sell only teaching method of thename of MBA like the other public Uni MBA.
Is this MSU as good as it said in preview I am not sure, if someonestudy in MSU MBS, kindly share with us
