U're obviously talking nonsense with little or no knowledge of the corporate world. U mean to say a person with a Harvard MBA has no merits working in Malaysia?

Yet I'm dealing with many part-time postgraduate learners with professional background undertaking local MBA programmes.

QUOTE
If you want to sell your local MBA program, at least do so with some integrity and basic knowledge of what the corporate world needs and appreciates.

The job to market local MBAs is the prerogative of the public and private universities concerned.

QUOTE
And yes I too am referring to the job market here in Malaysia.

Yet not all employers really taken to task to their employee on which MBA either local or international that they might've.

QUOTE
FYI, im a Business Unit / Country head for a Fortune 200 company based here in Malaysia so im well aware of the requirements of the corporate circle.

FYI I'm in higher education industry for the past 15 years and been dealing with higher education for working adults both in public and private sectors, so I'm not out of the loop.

Chill out guys. It is just matter of perspective and there's no one right answer on whether academic or not.

On one hand, executive degrees are certainly deemed non academic and cannot be used as part of your academic qualification for the next degree.

However on the other hand, it is true that EMBA is common and highly sought after in western countries for one reason, time.

On another point, non MQA or MQA accreditation programme is again another subjective measurement of the recognition of a certification. Like it or not, MQA only governs local programmes, for the obvious reason - Malaysia Qualification Agency.

So let lowyat forumer make their decisions based on their needs. I don't see why we need to come to one answer.

Anyone know about the MBA in Westminister IC in collaboration of Cardiff Metropolitan Uni in association of London School Of Commerce?

The cost seems cheaper with full time, MBA only a year.

What do you think about the quality of this MBA?

MBA grads & soon to be MBA grads, when is the right time to starting applying for a new job? Close to graduation or anytime throughout the course? Some schools also provide counselling/internship with their partnered companies.

Hi OxDoc,

After reading your comment, it reminded me for those were the few main reasons I signed up for Strathclyde MBA.
I'm in my third semester now and working assignment with my course-mate had brought me to different perception from my initial intention.
Having the privilege to work with business owner and high level ranking executive with industry background had me gained different learning experience and changed my point of view.
The Strathclyde MBA course complement these learning experience more effectively as their local council are top high rank corporate people that guide us in the course that willing to share how the real world ticks (domestic and global)
I have no regret for joining Strathclyde MBA and its totally worth it for paying the extra.

EMBA is generally an part time MBA course (i.e. only weekend classes probably every fortnightly) for existing working professionals while the MBA is practically a full time course which has classes during the weekday.

The main difference is the length and target audience.

And practically you are expecting to meet a CEO and jokingly ask him to hire you as a manager, I don't think you are suited for the MBA course as well since you and the CEO are supposed to be equals and should be learning from one another instead of you leeching off from someone else.

Having high rank officers working in a same assignment group really brings different learning experience. Expose to different teamwork dynamics as multiple industries background sitting in discussion room, throwing idea and pitching thought to buy others to sync into the same tune. I'm not all against the thought of leaving job opportunity aside for while in the course. But takes this opportunity also to network and grow them for better future prospect. The higher rank your network, the better chance to be up there. I seen many cases that job opportunities were given during the group discussion and even after local council session. wink.gif

Highest ranked MBA program in Malaysia currently is Sunway Lancaster MBA. Strathclyde comes 2nd. Besides these 2, I wouldn't bother with any others.

QUOTE(Paneuropa @ Jan 6 2016, 10:15 PM)
hello
I've checked out sunway-lancaster too. Lancaster is triple-accredited yes but their delivery partner in this case Sunway is not atm. that got me a bit worried.
Strathclyde local delivery partner certainly is not. (in a very bad area too, dont feel like going there for study)
the other triple-crown is monash university (only full time).

are the others like UM (AMBA) UPM (AACSB) really that much of not worth mentioning?
iinm UM has a very harsh condition for its students, consecutively 2 semester lower than 3.0 cgpa will be kicked out.
The Sunway Lancaster MBA program gets you 2 separate certs. One from Lancaster and one from Sunway. The only one that carries weight is the Lancaster one so why bother about Sunway not being triple accredited? You wont be using their cert anyway.

If im gonna be doing a MBA program in Malaysia, I would stick to the very best which is Lancaster.

But as I mentioned earlier, you first need to know WHY you're doing a MBA in the first place. Don't just do it because everybody else is doing it. You need to have clear goals and a clear career objective / path before embarking on the program. MBA doesn't suit/benefit everybody.

Hi all,

I am currently doing my MBA, will be more than happy to offer my experiences for your reference. Please note I am not associated with any recruitment nor university. I am here offering my experiences. I understand how uncertain it is to spend a large portion of your saving and how we all want the best out of our investment...so I hope I can share some of my experience and mistakes with you...

Again...I am here to offer sharing. IF u disagree please do not flame me because each of us have a different perspective and experience.
