3rd semester in UUM KL
I would said, it is a decent course. I do not want to compare with MBA or Stratchlyde. For local MBA, I would said the lecturer is quite OK.
In fact, those lecturer is either UUM or UKM or UM.
It is not much different between local MBA as the pool of lecturer is almost the same. Of course, more gd in house lecturer will b better for the school.

Not much Non bumi, but this new sem, a lot of chinese join which is quite a surprise

as usual u will not get all the lecturer that is good.
I think a 20k MBA, u will getting lecturer at about same quality...as lecturer may just teaches in several local universities...for the same subject.
For example, I have lecturer form UKM, UIA....

Um and UPm MBa is quite decent with the price.
The turn off is they should conduct the class in the weekend instead of evening 6.30pm.
It is hard for working adult to turn up on time for class at 6.30pm. Many of us work 12 hours a day, right?
Thus, I have to choose UUM MBA, though UTM is another option

i think finding the mba that suit you depending on what you expect out of it.

if you want an easy life, go for those MBA that weighted more on assignment and a thesis based MBA if you want to challenge yourself. (most student will have hard time in thesis especially if you are a part-timer)

In general, lecturers that teach in IPTA maybe either, an incompetence one (and thus not making it to IPTS), or one who pursue after a bigger picture (who aims to impart knowledge at his/her expense). In UM, as far as i know of, they are mostly the latter one. (from what i understand an IPTA lecturer with doctorate earns 5~6k a month compare to a part timer that teach in a few IPTS who can earn up to 20k+ << the amount that my undergraduate accounting lecturer earning by teaching in 3 college as part timer 5 yrs ago)

Currently the graduate school of business in UM is having approx 350~400 students pursuing MBA alone and 40+ full time lecturers with phd.

Since the government & opposition party are pressing hard on the ranking of local university, it appears that UM is urging its lecturer to publish research article in ISI journal to improve ranking. (Because ranking is basing mostly on how many research article that an university manage to publish in ISI journal)In my opinion, this may divert attention away from teaching into research, and a setback in a student point of view.

The MBA in UM is demanding, since the lecturers expect the student to follow the course wholeheartedly. As for my case, i do have my moment of doubt when the study is getting into my nerve, but never for a second regretted for enrolling MBA in UM.

Just follow your gut feeling in choosing MBA that fit you most. Nothing is what it seems and you might be surprised at what lies inside the "chocolate box" (one way or another smile.gif )

Seems like UM MBA is quite good in standard. The drawback is weekday class for part timer.

No matter what people said, just enrol the course that you think is right for you.
Of course if u get an offer from Harvard, just go for it.
That doesnt mean IPTA or 3 tier MBA will lost thier value entirely.
Ya, you will not getting RM 20k per mth after grads, but that may not be most of the MBA aim for. It may b a career change or update their knowledge.
Malaysia market may not ready for MBA soon. So, a Harvard MBA unlikely to work in malaysia.
For those who want to work here, nothing wrong to do a local MBa for self improvement.
Those who get a MBA from Top 10 FT MBA ranking and orking else where but not your own country, you should not pround of yourself either.
