I was wondering why my CIMB CB Plat was getting charged extra fees for MYR payment on PayPal.. now I know.

I guess if I get 5% CB and deduct 0.8% CB, its still 4.2% CB.

But CIMB cards definitely shitty, trying to rip customers off.

The 0.8% is called cross border fee

It's called calling it something that sounds logical to charge your cardholders more money. So far CIMB is the only local bank charging this fee.

I haven't tried other local banks cc except maybank which doesn't charge this yet.

to be fair i think the cost is chargeable to the banks. the banks is just passing the cost to consumers. i don't think they actually just take the charges for themselves. one can google i suppose.

but when citibank imposed this, at least they clearly tell you they will be charging this, and also on how they will be charging. citibank actually charges 0.848% biggrin.gif

The bank's cost of doing business it not my problem. If I am charged RM100, I expect to pay RM100. Any extra, I do not think that is fair, its "skimming" on the top IMHO. In any case, that's just my view. I have a choice, so I will not use it for cross border purchase, you can continue to do so and feed the bank.

I'll use it for my Gemfive/Lazada purchases.

You should have read back on older post. Anyway, you will not get any cash back for uobpayonline with cimb cash rebate card

Thanks, I tried searching but LYN search not working properly. I paid Unifi on occ.unifi.my

Theoretically, Unifi is not a utilities provider in the traditional sense. And they are definitely not a mobile provider. Let's see if I get the cash rebate or not.. oh well.

No. Call to cancel and lodge an official complaint. That's fraud! Imagine how many more cards they applied without your knowledge!
