it's not a transaction and there's no floating amount. they will just temporarily block a rm200 from your credit limit. as mentioned, it's just a pre-authorisation for you to be able to fill in petrol. the finalised transaction will only occur after you put the nozzle back.

if you really worry about this, next time use petron instead. so far only petron able to preset the amount you want to fill, before you slot in your cc for payment. in this case, only the preset amount will be charged to your cc and there will be no pre-authorisation involved.

Noted. Thanks victorywp.

Hi Team, need to check did anyone of you experience CC charged pre-authorization amount RM200 + the actual amount of pumping the petrol for the next working day? If this is the case, did the bank will refund the full amount of RM200 to my account? I'm kinda worried as the petrol station might overcharge the amount once again and deduct it from the RM200 pre-authorization amount.

why dont you call CS to ask which amount is actually charged to your card? if too paranoid, keep calling them every single day, to monitor the activities.

why are you so worried about the rm200 preauthorization? unless you're planning to do some suspicious petrol purchases, general ppl who pump petrol has no worries about this matter. hmm.gif

If the petrol station decided to charge your CC twice for single petrol pump, would you feel worried?

Don't worry, as long as you got a printed receipt from petrol pump. thats all for a single transaction.
RM200 is amount charged to ensure you have enough credit limit to pay for the pump, if you are using debit card, you will also get this RM200 being reserved until it posted.
You can always using "preset" option to charge exact amount on pump, I know petron, shell and petronas has this option, didnt try others.

Swipe inside counter => charged immediate amount.

Swipe at pump => 200 ringgit authorization.

Quite impossible for petrol station to charge your card twice.

Because once you put the pump back into the machine, the transaction was captured and an invoice issued.

Now cannot?
I used to use Debit card (PBB Esso debit card) at pump in 2012 when I just started work, do not have creditcard yet.
after the RM200, I then always preset RM50 per pump.
Now using CC, dont event need to care the preset anymore

If use Debit, usually they will charge RM200 straight from your debit card. Whatever amount you spend, RM200 - RM50 (example), will credit back the remaining to you in 2-3 working days.

That experience was like 2014. Prior I got my CC, I started to use cash instead since there's no much difference + no cashback or whatsoever.

the preset you mentioned is the preset to fill the exact amount, not the preset to charge the exact amount. preset to charge the exact amount is the same like you go inside at the cashier, meaning that the exact amount is charged without withholding rm200 from your cc.

If you preset RM50 and fill RM20 you donate RM30 to the next person pumping I guess =) don't dare to try

If you already got 3 CC approve, chance of rejection is quite high. Because banks will see you as desparate, applying many cards. But no harm to apply anyway, the only cost is time.
