Hi all, need to check is it normal for CIMB Bank to charge RM200 upfront payment for outside petrol pump each time we going to pump the petrol? If we pump the petrol on 27th of each month, isn't that upfront payment will charge to our account even the actual amount is not the same? I really need some clarification on this matter.

This is called pre-authorized amount and as far as I know it will not show on your unbilled transaction or statement, it will be adjusted to actual spending and posted later.
This pre-authorized amount will just reduce your credit limit during that time.

If we pump petrol on 27th of each month, and our CC pay RM200 upfront, isn't that the calculation is wrong since the statement date is fall on 28th of each month and we going to pay extra amount for our petrol that did not pump for so much?

Through out my experience, I have not seen the RM 200 posted on my transactions, just that my credit limit is reduced.

Thanks for your clarification. If this is the case, those floating amount will not charge on my statement as long as the merchant did not submit their claims during the statement date.

it's not a transaction and there's no floating amount. they will just temporarily block a rm200 from your credit limit. as mentioned, it's just a pre-authorisation for you to be able to fill in petrol. the finalised transaction will only occur after you put the nozzle back.

if you really worry about this, next time use petron instead. so far only petron able to preset the amount you want to fill, before you slot in your cc for payment. in this case, only the preset amount will be charged to your cc and there will be no pre-authorisation involved.

Er, I'm with shamsay, the ad says it all that Lazada vouchers are not applicable for CIMB CR application.
How did you manage to define different meaning? laugh.gif
