I travel internationally often and always use Maybank current account debit ATM card to withdraw. To minimise the transaction costs, my advise is (1) withdraw the maximum the ATM will allow, (2) use ATM machines at a bank branch instead of small standalone ATM kiosks such as those found outside 7-11, and (3) avoid making withdrawal when it is 11PM to 6AM Malaysian - be mindful of timezones - withdrawal rejected due to system down at night I think, and (4) do not use credit card as it is considered cash advance thus will incur high fees.

Reason for not using money changer is to save the hassle, and also better safety from not having to carry lots of cash around, especially during longer trips.

Any particular reason for that? unsure.gif

i think most of us will have to pay internet bills monthly. anyone know which cc has good rebates on paying unifi?

cause i see not many credit cards have cb for unifi.

so far i found uob yolo is offering 6%, but that only if i managed to spend at least rm 500 using that card

Unless you use CIMB CR and pay via PosOnline but there is service charge of 2.12%.

Called to request for replacement of new PIN card for HL GSC as I have received letter indicated that my Old HL GSC card will be deactive end of this month.

CS told me the card has sent August but until now still pending for received. Blocked the card and re-issued, within 7 working day.

Since seldom use this card nowadays, I then requested to cancel it. However, it can only be cancel when received the a new card (New PIN for HL GSC Card), said by CS

Why need to wait till the new card to arrive? Doesn't make sense. unsure.gif

Hi guys,
Recently when i try to buy items from China using my VISA/Mastercards but AliPay tells me that the merchant does not accept these cards. Does that mean i need a Union Pay card?
Tried to apply for one @ Bank of China branches here but they say their cards will not work with Alipay as well. Does anyone know if ICBC bank will work?
*
Nope, ICBC doesn't work too. I have ICBC Union Pay card from Malaysia, our card is only used as Debit Card in China. In order to register debit card on AliPay, it has to be registered in China and verified with their local ID or passport no.

Alternatively, you can link your Malaysia Visa/MasterCard to it, I'm using it but every transaction is subject to 3% service charge, anyway I have cash back and all, so don't mind these charges. I also use AliPay and WeChat wallet in China which links to my Malaysia credit cards, as it is very convenient to pay by just scanning QR code.

Or I just ask my China friends to help me to pay or they transfer fund to my AliPay.

I really have to open one bank account in my next trip to Beijing.

Awww snap. I tried to register my VISA/Mastercard to WeChat but it says 'it is currently not available' for a week now. While for AliPay it also gave me similar response. Is it because i did not verify my AliPay account?
Thanks for letting me know ICBC doesn't work, don't need to go there and get disappointed again later  tongue.gif
*
It works. smile.gif I didn't verify my account too. For AliPay, please try to add from app or website for first time. If app doesn't work then website, vice versa. After that, you can use either one to add new cards.
Most of the time I just check from app.

As for WeChat Wallet, it is easier than AliPay, I can link with no issue. After you input your credit card no., it will detect as credit card and no ID verification will be needed, you just need to fill in the necessary.

Well, I have done above for quite some time already as I used to travel to China very often. Let me try later with new cards and see if it works.

Er.. There's only one WeChat version. I also downloaded mine from Google Play. Me > Wallet > Cards.
OK, I just checked my friend's iPhone, she doesn't have while another colleague from China has. sweat.gif My phone has it all this while, even my iPad.

So, we've all heard about the PTPTN discount thing for lump sum payment. I have 7k left but thinking to pay it off.

Now Maybank has promo on BT. My only worry is that after charging to card A, the BT couldn't get approved.

Any one knows how generous Maybank is on the 0% BT approval? Any other tips/heads-up appreciated.

I just applied mine on Monday and already got approved. Was using it to pay PTPTN as well. smile.gif

Not many. Cashback for TNG auto reload should be very minimal. Best you can probably get is 1% or equivalent in points.

Most efficient way to reload is at grocery such as Jaya Grocer using cards like UOB Lady (10%) or PBB VS (6%) or Maybank VS (5%) or HLB Wise (effective 5% if you choose grocery category and meet the RM2k spend).
*
Or like me since my office hasn't moved to Gardens yet and JG will be in MV soon. Yeay. What I do now during this interim is reload in TnG Hub at Nu Sentral using my AEON cards and pay back using PosOnline. laugh.gif Moreover this Hub is using PayWave, so can easily use my AEON cards, just tap and reload at counter. I have to use this option after Sam's removed the CC facility for ePay. sad.gif

Hi guy, want to ask you all.

Is it credit card bank service provider unable to provide reason for reject application? Is it due to confidential unable to inform customers why reason application?

I saw some of my friend reject application less than 1 day after submit the credit card form. He has outstanding debt, bt the payment pretty good that on-time payment and did not over-due the payment until now.

Is it possible can complaint bank service provider why cannot provide the reason for reject application? If it is a confidential, then why customer need to submit photocopy IC (since this document also confidential and some-more it can abuse by using photocopy IC) during credit card application? It is consider be fair to customers and also banking provide information with each other..
*
Yes, banks have the rights not to share due to confidentiality. All banks actually share the same practice.

Yes, bank have right not to share some info.
But for reject application reason also cannot share to customers?

If like that, what for customers want to apply credit card? Everybody can boycott credit card bank service provider already since bank did not want to share to customers who reject the credit card application.
*
Yes, rejection as well, cannot share.
If you insist, maybe after you escalate to BNM, they may reveal.

Ask your friend to check CCRIS. Also, every bank has their own assessment, so if Bank A thinks OK, that doesn't mean Bank B thinks the same too.

Any idea the way to check CCRIS? Can online check and can see the report already?
I think this one should based on the type of credit card.. I believe that the assessment not so high if apply normal credit card (no cash rebate, just earn point, no much benefit at all).
However different story already if apply credit card like Platinum or Infinite credit card.. Of coz the assessment more higher coz apply those privilege credit card.
*
Print from BNM kiosk is the fastest. Else can request online but need to provide some documents.
http://creditbureau.bnm.gov.my/reportobtain.html

No, every card will be assessed accordingly. Regardless level. Do you know that even owing telco now goes into CCRIS? It will affect cards application and someone already got rejected because of that.

How the assessed the credit card, this one I'm not clear and sure about that.
However for telco, Yes! now telco goes into CCRIS, and even CTOS system too..

But I don't worry of telco, basically more in prepaid, no postpaid at all EXCEPT TM.... (No choice coz TM did not have prepaid with unlimited data quota, otherwise I will choose that.)
Because I hate to pay postpaid bill with "GST". mega_shok.gif
Of coz prepaid one soon implement top up with "GST" in the future, but if the GST this amount can change to free talktime, free sms or free data allowance, then no comment about it. whistling.gif
*
Banks will not share their assessment with us. Who knows we will take this opportunity to manipulate our documents to ensure our eligibility?
If Bank A cannot, then try Bank B. I have been rejected by few banks, re-approved after that or I'm not interested to pursue at all. Life still goes on for me and I have more than 10 cards now.

Oh well, prepaid used to have GST but now they refund back the GST to you within 24H.
