Went to watch this joint based on hype alone so I don't even know the basic plot. It was actually just your typical body swap episode with le twist. The visual and animation is really nice and the premise is okay for anime I guess. But it got overly dramatical at the evacuation scene I can't suspend my disbelief any longer. I also think it drags a bit at the end.

Finish the movie and it was really awesome. Been such a long time since I last had a satisfying anime movie. |

Watched it with my friend in cinema, maybe if you watch this movie with too much expectation, you will be disappointed imo.
I still prefer 5cm/second from Makoto Shinkai. |

Just came back from the cinema. Makoto Shinkai wasn't exactly a household name, but this is his most relatable and mainstream effort yet. His powers as a creator / auteur are finally reaching a maturation phase I think. This is a great piece of storytelling but I think one would only be able to fully appreciate the little details if one has some acquaintance with Japanese culture and the genres/themes the film borrows from.
