If you've been o/c for a while you would have used Motherboard Monitor 5 (MBM5), a superb tool for temp/voltage/fan monitoring.

Unfortunately the developer Alex stopped work on MBM5 around 2004 leaving us to use the (sometimes crappy) mobo manufacturer's utilities... until now...

Alex + FreeCableGuy from xtremesystems have developed a plug-in to monitor core temp on Intel Core™ based procs - the Core, Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, Core-based Xeons.

The plug-in allows reading the core temp from the DTS sensors on the die itself - something which CoreTemp/TAT is already doing - but MBM5 can display this on the sys tray + dashboard.

I'm using it right now and it's great to be back on MBM5.

D/l here

I actually skipped the Wizard process after testing with various mobos from same manufacturer (Asus P4C, P4P etc) and it didn't work right.

I got voltage reading working by playing with some formulas based on work done in xtremesystems forum; fan is still not working for me. I can attach my voltage formula for P5B Deluxe if anybody wants it.

FYI: the mobo list is read from an XML file. You can add your own mobo and settings in but biggest problem is my mobo is using a newer Winbond sensor chip that MBM5 doesnt work correctly with.

Doesn't work with my 965-S mobo. Everytime I install it, CPU usage shoots upto 90% and Kris@FCG confirmed it and is working on an updated coretemp.sys driver

Here's my PM with him

3 SATA HDD, Single IDE and 1 DVD

Seems everytime I load up MBM5, CPU usage goes upto about 70-80% and using sysinternal's ProcessXP, found that DPC and H/w IRQ process were the bulk of it. Setting affinity to Core 0 would cut down total usage to 50% whereby Core 0 would be doing 100% while Core 1 0%. I'm guessing the access to the sensors by the plugin is causing some delay or conflicts with the IRQ leading to such incidents. Hope to get soem feedback from you

yeah, i noticed this also. i am currently looking at my driver code to determine why the hell the 965-S would be any different than other MB's. writing kernel mode code is difficult....
