This Pinaka debacle was started all the way from mid 90s, so bad that even the jews couldn't find cost effective measures to rectify it.

Meanwhile Pakistan and China styling with Weishi 300 MLRS(with range as far 300km)

It seems the israelis have managed to help solve it? Since the Pinaka 2 is finally getting under way here? Not much to boast about though, just 20km more...

ISIS in the World’s Largest Muslim Country

user posted image

QUOTE
A recent Soufan Group report on foreign fighters in Iraq and Syria (not necessarily fighting with ISIS) cited an Indonesian-government estimate that 700 of those fighters hailed from Indonesia as of July 2015
QUOTE
Why are so few Indonesians traveling to Syria to fight?
QUOTE
Official estimates indicate that only 100 foreign fighters in Iraq and Syria are arriving from Muslim-majority Malaysia, and that a minuscule 23 are coming from India
QUOTE
Polls also suggest that a higher percentage of Malaysians than Indonesians are sympathetic to ISIS and the tactic of suicide bombings
QUOTE
In India, much of Muslim civil society has repudiated ISIS and other Islamic terrorist organizations, with nearly 70,000 clerics signing an anti-ISIS fatwa.
QUOTE
Indeed, the countries that send the largest numbers of foreign fighters to Syria and Iraq, either in absolute terms or on a per-capita basis, tend to be either politically repressive (Saudi Arabia, 2,500 fighters), politically unstable (Tunisia, 6,000 fighters), discriminatory toward a Muslim minority (Russia, 2,400 fighters), or a combination of the above.

China's second aircraft carrier to focus more on military operations

user posted image

QUOTE
"This aircraft carrier will have different missions than those for the Liaoning (the country's first aircraft carrier)," said Senior Captain Zhang Junshe with the People's Liberation Army Naval Military Studies Research Institute.
QUOTE
The PLA needs at least three aircraft carriers. When it does, one can be on duty, one can train personnel, and the third can receive maintenance," he said.
QUOTE
The new carrier has been designed in China and will have a displacement of 50,000 metric tons, a conventional power system, and will carry domestically developed J-15 fighter jets and other ship-borne aircraft, Yang said.
QUOTE
He said China will consider developing a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier after it gains enough experience in operating such large vessels.

U.S. fears Saudi tensions with Iran could affect fight against ISIS

user posted image

QUOTE
“This is a dangerous game they are playing,” said a U.S. official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity about U.S.-Saudi relations. “There are larger repercussions than just the reaction to these executions,” including damage to “counter-ISIL initiatives as well as the Syrian peace process.”
QUOTE
The two have frequently disagreed about how to respond to the Syrian civil war that began in late 2011, with Riyadh urging a more muscular U.S. response, including direct military intervention
QUOTE
Iran, along with Russia, is the leading backer of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a member of a minority Shiite sect, and Riyadh views the civil war as part of Iran’s fight for sectarian dominance.
QUOTE
When the Saudis began an ongoing bombing campaign last year against Yemeni rebels led by the Shiite Houthi tribesmen, the United States gave some assistance
QUOTE
Saudi Arabia vehemently objected to the deal over Iran’s nuclear program that U.S.-led international negotiators finalized with Tehran

What's the big deal about them? They are just MLRS rockets and a country with a good defense industry as India shouldn't have problems like this?
*
Exactly. They are just MLRS but it took India 30 years and billions of dollars get a functional MLRS. The Pinaka I is very inaccurate, even for MLRS.

In fact, this MLRS problem is just the tip of an iceberg of Indian military problem.

Navy SEAL sniper instructor describes America’s best marksman ever

user posted image

QUOTE
A quiet guy, he is unassuming, mild-mannered, and soft-spoken — as long as you don’t get him riled. Walk past Chris Kyle on the street and you would not have the faintest sense that you’d just strolled by the deadliest marksman in US military history, with more than 150 confirmed kills.
QUOTE
Our guys were not only expert shots, they also knew how to think strategically and tactically, and they came up with all kinds of creative solutions on the battlefield. For example, they would stage an IED (improvised explosive device) to flush out the enemy.
QUOTE
Meanwhile, they would take cover and wait. All these enemy forces would start coming out of the woodwork, shooting off guns and celebrating, “Aha we got the Americans!” and the snipers would pick them all off like proverbial goldfish in a bowl. You didn’t hear about this on the news, but they did it over and over, throughout the city.
QUOTE
Make no mistake: War is about killing other human beings, taking out the enemy before he takes us out

ANKARA’S HIDDEN HAND: TURKISH COVERT OPS THEN AND NOW

user posted image

QUOTE
Turkish President Erdogan tacitly confirmed Turkey’s covert support for Syrian rebels fighting against Damascus, stating that “anyone who bombs that area attacks our brothers and sisters — Turkmen.”
QUOTE
Declassified documents in Western archives and the now-open communist-era Bulgarian archives show that Turkey has long conducted covert and clandestine operations in neighboring countries.
QUOTE
Covert action, such as arming the rebel groups in Syria, has been the main pillar of Turkey’s recent Middle East policies
QUOTE
As a result of its covert actions, Turkey finds itself increasingly isolated, especially in its efforts in Syria.
QUOTE
Turkey’s clandestine policy will no doubt follow the same path. As a result, Ankara’s hidden hand may return back to its Cold War policy of a more synchronized approach with its Western friends to avoid direct confrontation with its neighbors.

China Assembles Its Stealth Jet Fleet

user posted image

QUOTE
Signs point to this J-20 being the definitive version of the stealth fighter—and the first in what could be a long production run potentially numbering in the scores or even hundreds of planes.
QUOTE
The apparent prototypes bear four-digit numbers on their noses beginning with “20.” J-20 number-nine’s nose code begins with “21”—specifically, “2101.”
QUOTE
When the squadron has enough planes and trained pilots and maintainers, the air force can declare the first J-20 unit “combat-ready”—a milestone most analysts expect sometime in 2017.
QUOTE
Beijing has never explained exactly what the J-20 is for. Is it a ground-attack plane like the F-117? A high- and fast-flying dogfighter like the F-22 or a multi-role attack plane and dogfighter like the F-35? And how does the J-20 fit into the Chinese government’s strategy for steadily exanding its sphere of influence into the East and South China
QUOTE
J-20 is a kind of aerial assassin. Perhaps it’s meant to fly fast over long distances through U.S. and allied air defenses to fire missiles at airborne tankers, radar early warning aircraft, and spy planes. Maybe it will lob bombs and rockets at air bases and aircraft carriers.
QUOTE
But the AL-31 or WS-10—it’s not clear which powerplant the J-20 uses—is clearly Beijing’s second choice for the new plane. Chinese engineers are working on the more powerful WS-15

The Syrian Army offensive in southeastern Hama reveals the Russian military strategy

user posted image

Over the past 4 days inside the Hama Governorate’s southeastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 47th and 67th Brigades of the 11th Tank Division – in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Hama City and Al-Salamiyah – have captured 11 villages that were under the control of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group, the Free Syrian Army (FSA), and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham; this military achievement resulted in the reopening of the Hama-Salamiyah Road.

Reopening the Hama-Salamiyah Road was great for the Syrian Armed Forces, especially because it links two of the largest cities in central Syria; however, it also revealed the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) true intentions. The latest southeastern Hama offensive may have come as a surprise to many of us, including the Islamists; however, according to a military source from the Syrian Arab Army, this offensive was reportedly planned for several months by the Central Command and their Russian military advisors.

In reality, this is not really a “southeastern Hama offensive”; it is a continuation of the northern Homs offensive that was geared to clear the territory controlled by the Islamist rebels in the Al-Rastan Plains. Were we really duped? Not entirely. It only confirms the Syrian Arab Army’s usage of the latest military tactic that was devised by the Russian military advisors in Syria. Similar to both the northern Latakia and eastern Aleppo fronts, the northern Homs offensive is part of this new military tactic to continuously shift axes in order to keep the enemy forces discombobulated.

For example, in northern Latakia, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard constantly switches which axes they are going to attack next; this has worked out to their advantage, as they might advance in Jabal Al-Turkmen one day and the next day, they will attack Jabal Al-Akrad. Ultimately, this military tactic used the “element of surprise” in order to boost the overall effectiveness of the Syrian Armed Forces attacking the Islamists around the country.

SAS to spearhead operation involving 1,000 British troops to wrest back control of a dozen oil fields from ISIS in Libya

user posted image

QUOTE
British special forces have been sent to Libya in a bid to halt the advance of the Islamic State, it has been reported.

SAS troops are understood to be preparing for an offensive involving 1,000 British soldiers to wrest back control of a dozen oil fields seized by the jihadists.
QUOTE
The operation will involve around 6,000 U.S. and European soldiers led by Italian forces, the SAS and military close observation experts from the Special Reconnaissance Regiment.

British experts will advise Libyan military commanders on so-called 'battle-space management' – tactics and skills needed to control the battlefield.
QUOTE
As the heart of the ISIS caliphate in Syria and Iraq shrinks, Firas Abi Ali, Middle East analyst at research firm IHS, has predicted ISIS would likely see oil-rich Libya as a 'plan B' and expand there.

Coalition Jets Will Do Seemingly Anything To Stay Away From Russia In Western Syria

QUOTE
More telling evidence that the airspace over Syria remains a conflicted and dangerous mess emerged this week in the form of a video of French Rafales carrying SCALP EG cruise missiles for strikes. And make no mistake – it’s a mess seemingly dictated by Russian action
QUOTE
These missiles were used on targets near war-torn Aleppo, which is located in the northwest corner of Syria, an area that Russia is highly engaged in and deep within the S-400’s engagement envelope.
QUOTE
The re-positioning of the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle is also perhaps yet another sign of how volatile Russia’s air defenses in Syria are.
QUOTE
the carrier was quickly moved to the Persian Gulf. Now it has to traverse Kuwait and Iraq just to reach Syria, although it does not have fly over Russian air defenses to get there. The distance from Syria’s western shore to Al Raqqah is about 160 miles, while the distance from the Kuwaiti shore to Al Raqqah is 700 miles!

U.S. Air Force Planes Jam Signals, Back Up Iraqi Offensives

user posted image

QUOTE
“I would agree with that Iraqi officer who said that 80 percent of the effort in Ramadi was due to coalition air strikes,” U.S. Army Col. Steve Warren, the top spokesman for the American task force in the region
QUOTE
while the troops on the ground and the jets battled Islamic State directly, specialized American jamming planes circled overhead. Based on the four engine C-130 transport aircraft, the EC-130H Compass Call wreaked havoc on the Islamic State’s communications.
QUOTE
Situated at Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base, the 386th oversees the jammers’ operations in neighboring Iraq. Specifically, the EC-130H hampered Islamic State commanders who tried to organize counter attackers.
