QUOTE(TruthHurts @ Dec 29 2015, 11:00 AM) Where to get some MRE's anyway ?? I want to get some and try it out also need for camping. Store some in room for a quick meal also. They don't sell military rations here. Best bet is to assemble some canned/processed foods from Tesco or Giant and vacuum pack them in plastic bags yourself. It's perfectly doable and you get to choose want food you want to eat. QUOTE(MrUbikeledek @ Dec 30 2015, 10:39 PM) That one due to US pressure. If it was up to France they'd be sailing the ships to Vladivistok at the first opportunity. Now they're forced to sell the ships at a loss to Egypt. Russia had agreed to pay 1.4 billion euros for the two, now France have to settle for 950 million euros for the Egyptian sale. QUOTE(MrUbikeledek @ Dec 31 2015, 06:58 AM) Kamov combat helicopters (KA-50, KA-52)have a main rotor detachment system that uses explosive bolts. This detaches the main rotor and only then the ejector seats activate. It is unique, but hardly secret.I'm surprised more people here are not aware of this. Looks like Yemen strategy of launching Scud missiles actually worked in a way, with reports of Saudi princes suddenly going on 'holidays' overseas jumping significantly.
![]() QUOTE Saudis, including Royal family members, are in a rush to flee the country after Yemen intensifies its Scud missile attacks on Saudi Arabia’s South, media reports said. “The Saudi residents of Khamees al-Mushait are waiting in a several-kilometer-long trail of cars to flee after their city was hit by Yemeni Scud missiles,” the Arabic-language Sa’ada Press news website reported. The Riyadh-based Ahrar al-Hejaz news website also reported that many Saudi princes have fled to western countries, specially France and Britain, after consecutive defeats of King Salman’s army and plots, adding that some other princes are running away in anticipation of trial and punishment due to their opposition to the king’s war on Yemen. |

QUOTE(BorneoAlliance @ Jan 1 2016, 12:22 AM) What I love about Russia is that it has multi-layer battlefield air defenses. Everything from S-400 to Buk to Tor to Pantsir to Strela, so theoretically a complete system can cover all air defense threat ranges from as far as 250 miles away all the way to just 1000 yards away.Meanwhile all I hear from US air defenses are Patriots and Stingers only. |

I just love those short to mid-range mobile ballistic missiles like Scud missile. I believe these types of missiles still have a battlefield utility, primarily as an alternative to the air force for long-range strikes. They're relatively cheaper and easier to maintain, hide and operate than air forces with fixed infrastructures.
![]() Just like Yemen doesn't have a functional air force, but they still can strike back and terrorize the Saudis by their Scud missiles strikes, their limited effectiveness notwithstanding. This post has been edited by MilitaryMadness: Jan 1 2016, 05:38 PM |

QUOTE(yinchet @ Jan 1 2016, 05:42 PM) Remind me of Iraq shooting it scud missile to Israel. Yeah, the US spent a ton of time and resources looking for those Scuds, but Iraq still managed to launch a large number into Saudi Arabia and Israel, I think about 90 to 100 missiles were launched to both countries (40+ towards Israel and 40+ towards Saudi Arabia). Their military effects aren't that great, but they still had both countries on the very edge of their toes.US have some problem finding it as well. But such system have export restriction. If want good quality Scud variants, we can always buy North Korean ones. |

QUOTE(nestlebliss @ Jan 1 2016, 10:17 PM) Americans have this delusion that with guns in hand they are capable of defending against a tyrannical US government (the reason they have the 2nd amendment). This may have worked back in 1776 when the most advanced weapon was a muzzle-loading musket, everyone uses linear tactics and cavalry moved around with horses. I'd like to see these hillbilly hicks take on a squad of Marines and an M1 Abrams tank when the time comes. This post has been edited by MilitaryMadness: Jan 1 2016, 11:34 PM |

More than 150 Arab coalition soldiers feared dead after Houthi Tochka (SS-21 'Scarab') SRBM hits coalition military base
![]() QUOTE DUBAI — One hundred and fifty-two coalition soldiers are feared dead after a short range ballistic missile strike hit a coalition base at the strategic Bab al-Mandab region in the south, a coalition source told Defense News. Among the dead in the attack, which took place Monday afternoon, was the commander of the Saudi Special Forces, Col. Abdullah Al Sahyan, the source confirmed. "So far, nine Emirati soldiers, seven Moroccans and 23 Saudis have been identified," the source added. The missile strike was conducted by OTR-21 Tochka mobile missile launch system for short range ballistic missiles, the source said. QUOTE "The Houthis fired a long-range missile at a secret headquarters of the pro-government military leadership close to the strategic strait of Bab al-Mandab, killing more than 100 men of the coalition," said Shehab Al Makahleh, a political analyst and director of Geostrategic Media Middle East. "The launch of a Tochka missile on a military base in southwest of Yemen by al-Mandab Strait aims to shift the political scene, which the coalition had been trying to achieve for more than eight months, which culminated in an expected cease-fire tonight before Geneva talks," he said. The strike proves that the Houthi rebels in Yemen have improved intelligence capabilities, Makahleh added. "Two other missiles were also launched yesterday and today on Jizan, which led the Saudis to send more troops to the borders with Yemen," he added. Yemen military says intel indicates Iranian technicians are helping to refurbish old Scud ballistic and SA-2 SAM missiles to be used against Arab coalition
![]() QUOTE Major General Nasser al-Tahri, Deputy Commander- in- chief, revealed to Asharq Al-Awsat that, over the past few days, the Military of Yemen acquired information confirming the cooperation of several Iranian experts with Houthi rebels to refurbish old Scud missiles stocks into usable weapons. They are apparently also working hard on repairing Volga (SA-2 'Guideline') Surface-to-air missiles, which were previously owned by the Yemeni army, and modyfing them to strike ground targets. However, according to army info, developed Volga missiles have demonstrated early test failure, and have missed primary targets set by the militants, proving the missile’s target inaccuracy. |

Bizarrely, I think Yemen rebels have enough military sense to actually use the old Soviet SRBMs in their intended roles: long-range strikes against theatre battlefield targets, instead of the more often use of raining down city-sized random destruction by their users in the last 50 years.
Not bad for missiles designed in the 1960s with an average CEP of 400-600 meters. Also, a fun fact: A Scud-B ballistic missile launch can take as much as 90 minutes to set up (for fueling, ballistic calculations and other stuff), but once it is launched, the missile can reach its target 300 kilometers away within 5 minutes. That's the scary part. |

They are just MLRS rockets and a country with a good defense industry as India shouldn't have problems like this?Meanwhile Pakistan and China styling with Weishi 300 MLRS(with range as far 300km) |

QUOTE(KLboy92 @ Jan 5 2016, 08:07 AM) Sometimes even good weapons systems don't really sell well for no obvious reason.
