your best chance to have this question answered is to go to low yat plaza and have
a window shopping walk in those hyperstores like Viewnet, IT hypermart etc

Digital mall in pj has also good choices but the ultimate place is at the Plaza LY

3rd floor and maybe 4th floor only

thanks for the suggestions, though i tried them, unfortunately lelong dont have them and lazada priced much more expensive than viewnet. And I personally am too worried about warranty to get them online anyways.

Ya the split screen thing is the idea. I might put my current monitor into garage sale, or just keep them both. Not even sure if I will buy it still,LOL. Though I really want it.

Edit: oh wait, lelong have them, but hopefully viewnet have christmas sale or something ? *fingers crossed

Ultrawide is good but not all games support it officially, have to use some mods or tweaks to make it work, if not you gonna game with black border at the side laugh.gif

i think at most i'll use the 16:5 option, that seems the best for 16:9 games. However I'm disappointed that those split screen cant be maximised into "fullscreen" in their own corners. That makes the LG software almost useless other than the 16:5 option.

No unfortunately.. but I did went to lowyat to look at it, while I cannot say it look gorgeous (because they did not play a full HD video) , it certainly scale a 16:9 video into 21:9 perfectly, I honestly feel that they're the same comparing the surrounding monitors. The setting they however uses (wide) they force a 16:9 source into 21:9, instead of using the (original) that would make the 16:9 video have black bars on both sides. U would not have noticed it was a 21:9 screen if U didn't already know, I imagined the stretch would be horrible, but turned out it's not the case.

I didn't have the chance to try out it's software functionality because they uses a DVD player sort of thing for demo instead of pc. There's nothing much U can do with the monitor's settings, other than the normal RGB calibration and brightness sort of stuff.

Just using DELL S2340L now.

I'll help U out to sum up the difference of DELL U2913WM vs LG29UM57 since I pretty much did this when I started choosing myself.

1: Much more connectivity options. (LG only uses HDMI)
2. Higher max brightness.
3. Swivel-able stand.
4. Built-in USB hub.
5. Audio out-put.
6. Better warranty(?) (DELL promised 1 to 1 screen exchange even if only 1 bright pixel is found)
7. Better looking overall when the monitor is not powered on. [ LG is very close with this, also features a virtually borderless design (overall looks the same as the DELL) ]

However, there is also a few disadvantage against the LG:

1. 8ms respond time compared to 5ms.
2. Costs a little more than 50% more money.
3. LG's monitor control uses a analog stick like the ones on ps4/xbox controllers, it is very easy to navigate thru monitor settings. (I didn't check DELL's but I'd assume DELL is using plain o buttons)

Mutual stuff to note:
1. If U're unlucky U may receive a terrible light bleed product (I read more review on DELL having serious lightbleed issues)
2. Both are able to overclock to 75Hz refresh rate+- (LG only goes to 75Hz max ; DELL users have reported to be able to overclock it a few more Hz stable)
3. These monitors are long if U didn't already notice. Needs more space on the desk compare to 16:9 monitors. U should measure before buying if U're working in a tight space.
4. Might not scale well with unsupported games. (though usually people have already created a mod for that for most games)
5. Both features anti-glare screen.

That's pretty much it, I might have left out a few.

Although I'd like the DELL to match with my current DELL, but I don't want to spend +50% just for that, and LG has higher respond rate.

I will only talk about the aspect ratio, since we want to buy this monitor for 21:9 in the first place. Dont worry though, colours and brightness on this monitor is quite good, technical specs on google....

this monitor is the (cheapest?) 21:9 monitor in malaysia, at least when i bought it. It it addictive to look at.

When I 1st saw the monitor in lowyat, it was displaying a video using 1920x1080 source stretched to 2560x1080; most people would "suggest" that the picture quality will be bad, however it was ALMOST the same as the 1920x1080 monitors. I was impressed then.

So after a few weeks of consideration , I bought it.

Soo watching bluray videos in cinema ratio, U will never go back to 16:9, like seriously. Gaming on it though is not as satisfying as I initially thought it would be, but I'm still pretty happy about it. If u suck in gaming, using this monitor wont improve it, much anyways.

This monitor can be overclocked to 75hz, the difference is pretty obvious for me, since I never used monitors more than 60hz.

Some online games like dota2 dont support 21:9 (yet) . But most if not all single player games do.

web browsing and productivity related work might improve by using 21:9 monitors. But unless U're really multitasking heavily or doing work with it, then I dont think so. Most people like myself would just use the whole screen for facebook anyways :3
That's y i kept my DELL monitor for multitasking.

The split screen software is useful for me in some case( placing 3 windows side by side). Otherwise windows 10 window snap functions exactly the same(works better too imo, the software leaves empty space between windows although very small gap; while windows feature truly place windows side by side)

Used this monitor for 2months. No defects of any sort (yet), but this depends heavily on ur luck. So good luck.

Not sure what else to say, feel free to ask anything about this monitor.
