Hi sonerin.. I was told by an electrician that if u plan your wiring diligently then you can save loads of money on electric bill..
He said instead of dividing the phase by the level of floors...we shud divide it by usage.. eg. 1 phase is for all air-conds in the house, 2nd phase for all plugs points etc.
Lesser looping also leads to less electric usage.

Yes that is correct. Is like have 1 phase for all the high power items and another for low power.

Don't quite get the concept here so mind if back track sikit. By dividing based on usage wouldn't that be unbalanced?

Not really. 3 phase is for dividing according to power consumption. Also it will be also as backup. There chance during blackout one of the phase might still have power.

Right, all along I thought the load distribution ensures that some circuits stay up even if the affected one is down. You're saying that the other phases will backup the load even to the circuits on the affected one? If that's correct interpretation then I've been looking at it wrongly.

looking good.....

the 3 phase power doesn't auto fail over backup....
if your 3 phase is coming from the same pole.....if that main line no power...also no power right?

the power loading if done efficiently will enable you to save electricity...that is true

Right, that's how I understood it all along. What's being done is to distribute the loading more evenly. Perhaps the unseen factor here is certain type of loading add up is equivalent to one heavy draw appliance but the decision is influenced by determining which one is used more frequently ie fan, common activity lights e.g. kitchen, dining, living, toilets etc. Hope you could have that friend elaborate more. Always something to learn. Thanks for sharing!
