I think in MBPJ not only renovation, even changing land title from residential to office also need to seek consent from neighbours. I also got letter as houses behind mine is facing main road and want to change land title to office.
And recalled in Bandar Utama, owner extended their back of the house illegally and MBPJ came and tear down their extended part of the house.
Although the extension is actually underground but kena oso.

Envy your man cave... For me, I have to sacrifice 1 bedroom to convert into... "Study/work purposes" (term to use in front of gf)... So, only left 1 guest bedroom.

Surprised to hear that... From the pic your house look quite big.

I see what you mean now. What I meant was I have to convert one of my bedrooms into the study. Balance left 1 bedroom. I don't have a guest bedroom downstairs.

Walao, your neighbour do extension till like that?
You gave approval?

I would complain if my neighbour did that - block all the wind into my house. And probably made the house darker as well.

It is definitely a lot cheaper with a much bigger screen when you have a dedicated room for AV.
