Years ago (more than 10 years ago) I saw a movie about a young electric guitarist learning from a black old man and then he went for competition (guitar wanking?) and beat a famous rock guitarist (the fella's string broke because he couldn't match the boy's tone)

What's the name of that movie ? Anyone remember ?

"Crossroads". The black guy is Ry Cooder and Steve Vai was the "Guitarist from Hell" the young punk beat.

Apparently, the riff that the boy used to defeat Vai in the movie was written and performed by Vai himself!

Oh wait, my bad! The black guy isn't Ry Cooder. Ry Cooder was the composer of the movie score.

Somebody was selling the Tele from Crossroads on eBay. Asking price is in the thousands for that Squier Tele. And oh yeah, it was signed by the cast and director...

The movie's called "This is Spinal Tap". It's ric in British humour and you gotta know your rock & roll history to appreciate the puns and jokes inside.

Yup. Its crossroads. More to like Steve Vai vs Stevie Ray. Well, personally, I feel Stevie Ray plays better than Vai although I am a big fan of Vai.

Was Stevie Ray even in the movie?

If I'm not mistaken, the piece that the kid plays was played by Vai themselves. The kid was 'miming' to a slower version of the solo and the video was then sped up.

I don't think any guitar aficionado worth his/her weight in salt would wanna watch anything with Britney in it... Just my personal opinion though...

anyway finished watching it , dint know its about blues but its still a good movie. steve vai is damn cool but karate kid kick his butt ( even tough it wasnt real)
