Yes, I also confirmed MBB GIA 4.5% effective rate is still on.

I also noticed an improvement that when opening using cheque, the FD slip is given on the same day unlike previous promotions where the cheque needs to be cleared first.

Also, during the earlier opening of MBB GIA, fresh funds not required, I could just convert my matured MBB FD to it.

confirmed MBB Gia 4.5% 12 months still available. Just placed today. Didnt put HLB cos maturing FD is from HLB and they wanted fresh fund. If they come up with better rates later, can just withdraw from MBB since no penalty smile.gif

it seems diff mbb branch practice differently. some mbb branch will just give out fd cert on same day while others say wait for cheque to clear.
*
That was what I encountered previously for previous promotions, they even said bank in to my savings account & clear it first then go back in 2 days time to open the FD.

Correct, I think some branches don't like to promote GIA. Last month I think, one branch told me it ended but when I went another branch, it says still on so always need to get 2nd opinion.

Just curious..

When use personal cheque to place FD, they bank accept immediately ?

Or banker cheque only accept immediately?

Just wondering wad if the personal cheque got bounce out ? Haha
*
I was mentioning about personal cheque that MBB now accepts immediately.

I encountered personal cheque that had some signature issue, I was informed to provide another cheque & I think the FD date was revised also.

just so share. you may actually open a GIA-i account via Maybank2u. No promo rate of 4.5% but 4% instead. as usual minimum 5k for 1 month and 1k for the rest. still higher than normal board fd rate for those who don't mind regarding PIDM
*
I would prefer Maybank's 4.17% effective interest rate FD for 6 months promo as it also rollsover the principal + interest on a monthly basis which makes it PIDM protected.

Hi guys, need your advice here.

I just placed a fixed deposit for one month online at ambank website.

But I can't seem to find a way to cancel the auto renew option.

Is there any way that I can cancel the auto renew option? I wish to renew it manually every month instead of auto renew.

Thanks.
*
Unfortunately no, there is no option to cancel auto renew. I have been using amonline for ages but functions forever remains the same.

Means if I want to cancel the fixed deposit then I will have to drop by the branch office?
*
On the maturity date, manually login & uplift/close the eFD, don't have to go to the branch.

do you have the link to this promo for maybank? I can't seem to find it sad.gif
*
You would need to ask at the branch. But I cannot recall when the promotion is supposed to end.

It is effective rate 4.17% but you will get interest every month & it can be added on to the principal to get the following month's interest just like GIA.

Went to BR planned to uplift my FD and move it to UOB 4.4%...
But was surprise the ABM offer the current promo 4.45% for 2year tenure.
Asked to nego, cannot nego.
So end up stay with BR with monthly interest. Good for not needing to visit another bank.  nod.gif

Just to share the promo details (refer the cert I attached below)
Bank: Bank Rakyat
FD rate : 4.45% p.a. monthly interest
FD Tenure : 2 years
Promo validity : 1 Jan - 31 Mar 2016
Min Amount : 50k

I asked for the brochure, ABM said not yet received from HQ. Asked for gift, got 2 towels, umbrella habis.
ABM said there was a FD promo for 12mth last month, now promo for 24mth. Surprise no one heard and reported here.
Took me ~40min to settle everything and collected the certs. Consider fast as compare to last time.
*
Good for you. Last week when I applied for the nego rate I got a dark green 2016 diary.
Today when I collected 1 cert, they gave me a face towel & umbrella. Unfortunately they ran out of Parker pen.

I am okay if they tell me upfront  that I need to  bring  the cert or that the SI  cannot be changed at all. But now they are trying to cover up. I am sure glad I didn't  end up being their PB customer. That branch is not worth at all.

Your issue maybe abit different from mine which I faced previously.

1. I did not get my interest after 6 months despite having instruction 2 chosen, so I asked my RM why. She gave some excuse saying they have some internal instruction that interest will only be paid upon maturity.

2. Then I called the hotline about the same issue & complained. It routed back to the RM & she was quite angry saying why I didn't contact her directly. Apparently the hotline officer contacted her & scolded her. But the final outcome still the same, she even said asked branch manager if the 'instruction' can be changed but cannot.

3. Finally, after around a month seeing most of the people here getting their interest paid, I complained on their Facebook page & try to viral it tongue.gif I got my interest within a few working days no excuses given! biggrin.gif

Sometimes I guess it needs humiliation for these big bullies to take proper action.

I see Citibank credit cards Facebook page is also badly defaced with lots of complaints since they are probably the only bank that still do not give annual fee waiver. But when came my turn, they seemed better & said I need to spend a certain amount to waive it.

4.9-5.2%??? i doubt  it very much.
What is the board rate now, how to nego up so much?? betul ke?
You try ask the BR manager, really can get that rate kah if put RM1 million, 2 million?
4.8% for 1 year also quite unbelievable to me.

they send me this hampers so late, probably sapu from last minute lelong offer.
*
Wah, this year everyone seems to be very 'fat tat' got hampers.
I think I may need to move to KL BR branches then. PJ must be having very high net worth people until I always cannot get anything.

The most I got is 2 gifts of hand towel & umbrella for just 1 FD

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Feb 11 2016, 11:25 AM)
I faced the same issue as yours too and also took me several emails n calls to resolve it. Luckily  that one is solved for a peace of mind.
*
I noticed foreign banks are generally kiamsiap & not flexible. Last time I asked for 1 packet of ang pow packets also ask to check if I have an account there.

U guys have so much problem with SCB.  shakehead.gif  So far the 6 mth interest only have slight problem which was resolved quickly through the RM. Subsequently no more issues. Just received one last week. Also changed Renewal Instruction within one day (showed up online).

Maybe Penang side less issue ?  biggrin.gif

OT. CB Citigold free Platinum card. Have been using it as main credit card for years.  biggrin.gif

Considered not much problems for me except for that 1 incident so far, touch wood sweat.gif . Except for making 1 visit to the bank, the rest was done through the internet or phone calls
