I've done this before, just to test the system. Didn't even add/minus amount.
It works!  smile.gif

Thanks for the confirmation. I was wondering about this too when thinking about the lack of attractive promo now.

Hi I saw HLB FD with 4.5% for 6 month which is quite good, may I know is it possible that I go to the branch and open the FD account then transfer my money via online like CimbClicks or MB2U? Or I need to put the money when I open the account?

This doesn't work for some bank, eg ALLIANCE. Alliance has it own way of determining whether the fund is fresh depending on the incremental amount over the previous month's balance

If you have a Mach account, you can place it online without needing to visit the bank. However you better call up HLB and asked them money transferred from another bank via online is it counted as fresh. End of the day, if you don't have a Mach account, you will still need to visit HLB counter to place the FD.

HLB FD with 4.5% for 6 month will paid monthly interest. You would need to open an SA account with HLB if you don't have one with HLB.
With the SA, you can transfer in your fund online from elsewhere and proceed to the branch for the promo FD placement.

If your town have a HLB Mach branch, you can consider open a MoneyBox saving account.
You can then do promo 4.5% promo FD online. This is more convenient. Come to maturity time, you can withdraw your FD online. If you do via branch, I was told that I need to back to the same branch for withdrawal.

For MACH moneybox, u must inform the staff that u don need any debit card which is chargeable at RM8 per annum. As long as u're existing HL Connect user, either credit card or other saving acc with HLB, u can choose not to take the debit card. My colleague force to get debit card due to she doesn't has any acc or card with HLB

I had recently done that. . I first open the Saving account and then transfer in the fund via online. The branch accept without any problem. It is clearly stipulated in their T&C that funds transfer in from outside is consider fresh fund.

For those in town where there is no HLB mach branch, if you happen to travel oversea, there is a HLB Mach branch located near the departure floor at KLIA2. Opening a Moneybox account is less than 15 minutes if you already have an existing HLB account.

just so share. you may actually open a GIA-i account via Maybank2u. No promo rate of 4.5% but 4% instead. as usual minimum 5k for 1 month and 1k for the rest. still higher than normal board fd rate for those who don't mind regarding PIDM
*
I would prefer Maybank's 4.17% effective interest rate FD for 6 months promo as it also rollsover the principal + interest on a monthly basis which makes it PIDM protected.

Thanks for answer, but unfortunately I stay in Melaka and hometown is JB and I checked the location for Mach branch all are located in KL so I can only open normal saving account. If like this then I need to open two account which is saving account and FD account?

just made an FD (Murabahah Deposit Account) at Maybank, Jalan P Ramlee, KL.

4.22% PA for 9 months, the interest is credited into saving acc upon placement of FD, not maturity. smile.gif

it's not the best deal, but most convenience for me, due to the small amount I am placing, it's too hassle to go other location.

Thanks for sharing. I'm looking more into eFDs these days for convenience.

Does TS update the first page with eFD promotions? I know there's a section for eFDs but not for the promotion I think? Like last month got that CIMB eFD promo thingy.

Hnws Ram, you are wrong again la.

No need call up MAcH to ask about whether money transferred is consider fresh or not.

Existing money in money box mach acc straight away can place promo 4.5% 6 mth FD under Mach FD.

No need check whether fund is fresh or not. Just need 10k minimum.

I think was not clear enough. For Mach eFD, no need fresh fund. But I was talking about calling up HLB if he intends to transfer from m2u to cimb clicks for the 4.5% FD placement over the counter (instead of using BC). Will hlb consider that as fresh fund or not (transfer of funds from another bank or they only see cash and BC as fresh fund)?

Interesting....the effective rate could be higher than 4.35% offered by Aliiance Bank, if i place a deposit of RM320k.

Alliance bank : RM320,000 x 4.35% x 9/12 = RM10,440

MBB Murabahah : RM320,000 x 4.22% x 9/12 = RM10,128

Withdraw the interest paid upfront and re-deposit into FD again.

RM10,128 x 4.22% x 9/12 = RM320

Total interest earned = RM10,128 + RM320 = RM10,448 drool.gif

The person wants to put the 4.5% FD at HLB. His money is in Cimb/maybank. He wants to know by transfering, will he get the 4.5% or he needs to use other ways to get fresh fund.
