Then you can share the updates here for others' reference. rinse and repeat. that's how forumers here found out info and share with us. This post has been edited by cybpsych: Jan 4 2016, 09:13 AM |

For now, UOB December's FD Promo extended until further notice.
3 Months - 4.15% 6 Months - 4.2% 12 Months - 4.4% But my RM told me the 4.5% for 12 months I got in December is no longer being offered (for now). I guess the banks are checking each other out before releasing their new Promo and by end of next week, we can expect CNY FD Promos. And if you have yet to check out my new blog - click here to visit www.GenXGenYGenZ.com. If anyone noticed a trend, all banks which offer high rates before this have start lowering their rates. A sign they are losing too much money by giving too high rates?

A sign they are losing too much money by giving too high rates? It means they have enough cash already for their Balance Sheet as at 31 Dec 2015, therefore, they can slow a bit from now on |

QUOTE(areankim @ Jan 4 2016, 11:35 AM) yeap saw the banner that day, 4.5% for 6 months... ice cool. No banks in their right mind will you give promo rates after matured as they expect you to forget and let it renew at board rates hence paying you lesser interest. For what they want to give you higher rates when they can use the extra ~1% to pay themselves/share holders first? They will only give you promo rates if :any idea, the rate will stay the same after? or board? 1) you are a Priority/VIP customer 2) the amount is very large 3) you topped up extra 10-20% of the original amount. If you don't fulfilled (1), (2), don't expect to get promo rates. Be like common people and uplift your FD upon maturity and hunt for the best bank. For (3), I already proved before this that it is cheaper to "hunt/move" your funds around rather rather than topup. To continue at promo rates, you need min rm1-2k (depending on your original amount). To "hunt/move" your funds, you just need max RM20. This is only applicable for people with money locked up and cannot be touched. If you have spare rm1-2k lying around, then by all means topup. With online instant transfer facility available nowadays, will this circumvent the fresh fund requirement?
eg: Uplift from Bank A, instant transfer to Bank B. Login Bank B, transfer it back to Bank A. To play safe, add or subtract some small amount to avoid same figure. |

QUOTE(cklimm @ Jan 4 2016, 12:28 AM) QUOTE(TSOM @ Jan 4 2016, 02:23 AM) when I think of Citibank, I think of credit cards. The only time I got a 9.18% FD from CB is with UT promotion in 2015. They does not seem to bother with pure FD promo.I think they're not active in the field of savings and FDs... In fact they are raising the AUM for CItigold from 200k to 350k. That is even higher than OCBC's 300k for PB but lower than UOB's 500k. |
