depends on location and branch. if big city the cut off will be larger. small city or small no of depositor, the limit lower.

AmBank long term FD ? What is the rate ? 

I thought there is a new FD promo from AmBank.

OK, checked my record, did put in Oct to Nov 2015 into the 2 years 4.6% FD in AmBank.  Quite substantial sum also. Luckily did not wait for the 5% dream of Dr Bones. 

has anyone tried to use single cheque (so consider as fresh fund) for multiple FDs?

like a piece of 50k cheque, then split to 3 FDs.

FD 1 15k - 3 months.
FD 2 15k - 6 months.
FD 3 20k - 12 months.

Keep in mind that by splitting the banker's cheque, some banks will charge you 3x instead of just 1x (I am assuming you are going to take banker's cheque)

same with PBB also. withholding rm20. most prob will go ocbc. another stupid question, just to confirm the calculation, 15 mths 4.3% means placement RMxx,xxx x 4.3% = interest per annum, so divided by 12 then x 15 to get the interest earned? thx

I have also reduced >50%. They still welcome me and gave me 12 mth 4.5% nego rate recently for renewal FD.

impossible lo.. 100-200k fd can get extra and can negotiate till 4.5-4.6% based on HQ approval

but since you highlight it i will explain. bank savings protected by PIDM and fixed deposit account protected by PIDM are 2 different things. not sharp but a bit blunt.

nah with rhb as well. must have good relation with managers/bankers ma.. nowadays we need banks to triple our wealth 

If the amount is big like RM 200K and above, then Yes, BR will issue a banker's check..
