For OCBC, FD placed at the counter, must withdraw at the counter.  FD placed online, can withdraw online.
*
well, for OCBC, it's statement-based FD.

i placed OTC for FD Promo, upon maturity, logged into OCBC Online Banking, uplift/transfer the fund+ interest was auto-credit back from FD Account -> CASA. Once done, I transferred the fund into my Home Loan from OCBC too. p/s: OCBC termed this transaction as Pay Bill. rclxub.gif

Core reason I did this was to reduce HL principal, but I only do this once a year sweat.gif Instead of running around with the fund, I put into OCBC Promo FD (gotten RinggitPlus' free Medklin Assens Air Steriliser)

other banks, not as simple, i think. blush.gif

Sifus for FD if I put in 50k, shud it be in 1 certificate of 50k or multiple certificate of 10k or 20k. What are the difference?  Which is more practical?
*
no difference.

depends on whether you need to access some of the 50k for emergency/adhoc use or not.

if u have other funds available, 1 cert 50k no issue liao.

Just to confirm, this can be done on the same date as maturity date correct?
*
yep, i uplifted on maturity date (the date printed on the cert too). my maturity date fell on Saturday biggrin.gif

when i checked online portal to uplift the FD, the interest gained already automatically credited into CASA (OCBC SmartSavers).

so, i guess their systems works as expected laugh.gif

**update: didnt uplift manually, it was auto-credit back to CASA, per maturity instruction during placement. blush.gif

Bro, I just logged into my OCBC account, tapped the FD account, a small window popped up with three task options and one of it is withdrawal. Tapped the withdrawal option, I can only see my Islamic FD account. My FD receipts under conventional FD account (OTC promo FD) were not listed in the withdrawal page.
Yous is Islamic FD?
*
thanks for jogging my old memory sweat.gif it's been 1yr+ liao since 2014 placement.

if i recalled correctly, during placement, i specifically asked the staff to set maturity instruction: interest + principal auto-credit back into my CASA. Sorry, didnt perform manual upliftment. paiseh blush.gif

checking my CASA now, here's the transaction description:

Yes, BR is promoting 24 mth FD at 4.55%. I got 12 mth 4.5% for matured FD after nego with them. They want me to keep the eggs there instead of taking it out.  tongue.gif
*
I wouldn't use nego rate for comparison here . it's highly subjective.

2 reasons:

1) someone might use/repost the rate and may claim it's promo rate applicable to all.

2) someone may read it, and go argue with bank with min fund. he/she may not know nego rate requires substantial fund.

ppl might get confused.

That is what @yygo is saying. Nego rate is very much depends on the bargaining power of individual. I shared the info with all. That person should not have put it like it is "normal" 1 year rate.  biggrin.gif Misleading to do that.  shakehead.gif
*
exactly, the fella always recycle info without context or proper reading/checking first.

Just called to Affin Bank to confirm this FD promo:

4.5% for 12 months
minimum placement RM 10K
Interest will pay upon FD maturity
Valid until 29 Feb 2016
*
shared earlier. seems to be a straightforward FD, typical for Affin.

then affin rate is the best so far...
*
Affin is stable. i've got a 2yr FD with them, and family put some eggs there too.

traditionally, Affin doesnt compete direct, but once a while they do offer attractive rate that's a notch above others (e.g. now). good strategy, imo.

Hi guys, anyone is interested in the current maybank 6.88 promotion?
http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p.../PRO-Promotions

Looks tempting to me, but I hope to know is does it mean 6.88% only applicable to 7 & 8th month?
*
upon maturity, the actual effective rate is just 4.38% p.a.

Sigh they market it as 6.88%

keyword is "up to", not effective

be mindful on these big numbers. always read the T&Cs and the table illustrated.

The first 6 mths for MBB GIA-i should be as quoted by them 4%, though there could be changes as stated by them.  biggrin.gif

So far last few mths have been paying out 4%.  biggrin.gif
*
unlikely for mbb to bump it up to 4.5% p.a., wherease we all gotten 4% p.a. for the past few months biggrin.gif

i wonder how kelvinbaby gotten the number (4.5% p.a.) at the first place.
