based on first quote of my post = i was merely asking as if all bank saving accounts are protected by PIDM as i have no knowledge in this. Correct me if i was wrong? no?

based on second quote, i mentioned BR is good for offering / can negotiate with high % interest though no PIDM for FD with freebies, etc.

two different questions with two different answers,

my english sucks .. make u kenot comprehend well  tongue.gif  tongue.gif

If you don't know whether all banks' saving accounts are protected under PIDM then in the first place why are you giving advise to other forumer stating that BSN is protected under PIDM?

If you don't know then just google what is PIDM before giving advise, don't mislead others when you don't even know.

And why are you differentiating savings accounts with fixed deposits? PIDM protects the depositors against the loss of their insured deposits which includes both savings account and fixed deposits.

If you don't know then just refrain from posting. Don't come and spam here just for the sake of post count.

If the amount is big like RM 200K and above, then Yes, BR will issue a banker's check..
*
Not sure about others in my branch. For my case, they can issue BC regardless of the amount. Sometimes just 10k or so. But maybe an exception coz been banking with them for quite some time.

Went in to BSN and open another FD, told them about the monthly interest for 60months, and they said impossible. Told them to check , and reluctantly they call and confirm with other branch and still say upon maturity. Told them again to check with HQ, after 10 minutes they told me it's actually every 6month for 60months tenure only. Gonna Vomit blood.

If place below RM 50K, interest will pay each 4 month
If place above RM 50K, interest will pay monthly
*Minimum placement is RM 1000

i did not bother to reply him at all tongue.gif

but since you highlight it i will explain. bank savings protected by PIDM and fixed deposit account protected by PIDM are 2 different things. not sharp but a bit blunt.

*
PIDM insured against the deposit in the bank, be it saving, FD, junior account or even current account.
There is no differentiation in term of FD or saving in term of PIDM coverage.

Don't need to circling on PIDM anymore, below is the summary,

BSN is not under PIDM, but it is guaranteed by gov.
BR is not under PIDM
Most commercial banks out there are under PIDM, the list has been posted by forumer, which can be referred upon.

PIDM coverage is max at 250k per entity (not account) in a bank.

End of story.

Don't forget to ask for monthly interest and open iRakyat online account,
BR Coop ATM card is still free so far..

Everybody should ask for freebies, not cheapskate, but this is our FD depositors' right... thumbup.gif
