Hi people out there, I am not sure is it the correct place to ask for help. Here is my situation and really need help and consultation from people here.

I placed an order for ONE unit of Alienware Alpha from DELL USA official website. I am directing the item to a warehouse in USA which will ship it to Malaysia for me. Skip this part, cause I know who they are and how they handle it for me. Just for information, they are not using DHL/FedEx. Also ignore the reason why I choose Alienware Alpha.

The price is US$450. It will soon ship to Malaysia.

As for what I know, after Google and search a lot, I got to know any computer/laptop/notebook is tax exempted when import into Malaysia instead just a charge of 6% GST base on the total value + delivery charge + insurance (if any). Am I right?

My concern now, since the unit has radio capabilities (wifi and bluetooth), do I need to apply AP from SIRIM? How they charge? How it works? How to apply?

This is my first time buying computer from USA. I never spend so much money on buying things online from overseas.

Please somebody can consult me and help me in my problem?

Thanks so so much. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

GST only. And You can even get your forwarder to re-declare for lower GST charges.

I know, coz I've redeclared my Microsoft Surface Book from USD2699 to USD1699. GST charges are only on the USD1699 declared cost. I've shipped my Surface Book from Microsoft online store to forwarder address in Portland and re-ship it back to Malaysia.

wow.. compare to mine, yours one is really the real high price item.
but is that true if the forwarder would willing to help, to reduce the declared value?

oh, how about the SIRIM issue?

Forwarder does what I asked them. Perhaps it depends on your forwarder whether they wanna do that or not. The downside of under-declaring is that, if the package is lost in shipping, you can only claim the cost you've declared.

No SIRIM meddling either, this is not a smartphone or tablet. This is a computer.

As a disclaimer, my forwarder uses DHL. I hold no responsibility if you face difficulties using other courier services. I hate UPS with every fibre of my being, and FedEx have gone less helpful in processing my shipments in as of late. DHL has been rock solid since the day I first used them shipping items from Amazon.

No worries bro, I just need reference on my in-coming item from USA. I am very clear that different forwarder has different way of dealing on the shipment.

So ultimately, the charge when it reaches Malaysia would be merely 6% of GST on top of the total cost of my item, right?

How about can you PM me the forwarder that you've been using all this while? Thanks so much bro.

6% GST only, yup.

I cannot reveal my forwarding agent, sorry. Hence my disclaimer previously applies.
