As i said yesterday, I will do a mini review after I obtained AS5 from moderno. So here is my mini review on Scythe Andy Samurai Master on my rig.
Information: My rig spec is at my signature. The comparison is between Intel Stock Cooler (i dont have any other CPU Cooler) and Scythe Andy Samurai Master. Please note that the thermal paste on my Intel Stock Cooler is fully sinked in (15days+), Zalman STG1 and the thermal paste that i used on my Scythe Andy Samurai Master is just applied (< 2hour), Arctic Silver 5. here we go I just bought this cpu cooler from a singapore's supplier at SGD 80.00. Currently it is only available in Japan and China. Its official global launch is at early January 2007. Expected or recommended retail price is SGD 84.00. You can find more information at its official website. Official Link to Scythe Andy Samurai Master Here is some pic of the heatsink: As usual, Scythe heatsinks come with mirror clear base. You can see my Canon Power Shot DC from the pic Installation: Actually, I found that its installation is very easy and effortless. I just select the correct mounting and secure its to the base of the heatsink. As for the contact, I used the grain method when applying AS5 and it cover 80% of the surface of the processor. This clearly showed that Andy have a good contact with the processor. *I forgot to take pic of it. Results: Intel Stock Cooler with Zalman STG1 as TIM (applied around 15 days ago, *fully sinked in) During IDLE 33'C after 20 mins of IDLE During Full Load 53'C after 31mins of Stress Test Scythe Andy Samurai Master with Arctic Silver 5 as TIM (just applied it) During IDLE 30'C after 20 mins of IDLE During Full Load 40'C after 1 hour of Stress Test Analysis There is a decrease of 3'C during IDLE and 13'C during Full Load after installing Scythe Andy Samurai Master even when the Intel Stock Cooler is using fully sinked in Zalman STG1 while Scythe Andy Samurai Master used just applied Arctic Silver5. Probably there will a drop in temp after the Arctic Silver5 fully sinked in Overall, I am quite satisfied with the result. Probably you guys will flame me but this is not an actual review, i just want to show my new cooler to u guys Note: I already ordered Silverstone FM121 fan for this cooler. I will post again my result when I using that fan This post has been edited by irangan: Dec 26 2006, 02:42 PM |

I suggest you to get the heatsink from Singapore instead, it'll be hard to find the right heatsink there. Every city in China is too big to travel around. It'll cost quite a sum for transportation fees alone.

QUOTE(gmail @ Dec 26 2006, 07:03 PM) @irangan i not sure about the price.. but if u can afford to purchase Andy, why not increase your budget abit and get a Thermalright Ultra 120 or Scythe Infinity or Noctua NH-U12 may i know how much is the heatsink selling in china? my father is going 2 china next week, if the price is nice, might ask him 2 bring back 1 4 me. i go for Scythe Andy Samurai Master because it is shorter in height, thus, can fit my small icute casing and not because it can outperform those highend heatsink from Thermalright, Scythe and Noctua btw, Rlhh is correct. it is not worth to buy in China. it is more expensive if u calculate all those transportation charges and so on. btw, it is abit tedious for your dad to look for that heatsink |
