Useful but not essential.
Here's to mess your head more.
1) The Touch ID on SE is the older generation. It isn't as fast as the 6s Touch ID.
2) front facing camera is of lower quality on SE. Back camera is the same. Wonder that
3) battery on SE is much better than 6s (probably smaller screen)
Yeah, just when the SE was announced, I was weighing my options between the SE and the 6S and 3D Touch was one of the factor taken into consideration but at the end of the day, I caved in to 6S yesterday XD.Here's to mess your head more.

True that 3D Touch isn't a necessity but it's really fun to have it.
I was on 5S previously and I thought 4.7" is just too big but having used the 6S for a day, I find that 4.7" is actually a very comfortable size. Much more comfortable than 4" actually. Typing on the 4.7" is less tedious and the screen size is just very soothing to look at, there's ample space for everything.

It will not be unwise to opt for the 6S now UNLESS you intend to switch immediately when the 7 is announced. if you're on the "S" line then the reasonable life cycle is to upgrade to the next "s" series in line (ie. 7S).
