Just sharing some experience...my house was recently renovated and my friend recommended me to check out taobao and so I did...at first I didn't understand much about shipping charges and just went on to buy some lights...it was a painful lesson for me coz it was chandeliers I bought...big but not heavy (shipping cost me almost rm700)...I paid almost double the price of the chandeliers...so I did more research and found out there was something called prime from ezbuy...I was skeptical but still tried out the one month trial anyway (rm18.80)...after my first order, I decided to buy everything I could possibly for my house using prime...coz shipping is only rm8.80 per checkout! I bought lights for the whole house, an ottoman, side tables, coffee table, shower heads, bidets, taps etc (didn't dare to buy electronic stuff only)...on average I save more than 50%...quality by the looks of it is worth it (don't expect European quality la) and some even exceeded expectations...my contractor even ask me how the hell do I get so cheap...I can't tell how long will those stuff last coz I just bought them, all working at first try though...throughout my experience, here are the pros and cons:

Pros
1. Cheap compared to local marketplace. Usually around 50% cheaper
2. Quality is good, sometimes exceed expectations
3. So far, no items missing

Cons
1. Slow delivery, takes on average a month to arrive. Sometimes 2 months.
2. You can't see the item so u pray hard it looks exactly the same from the picture. I'm not fussy so if a bit different, I don't mind
3. Damaged items are common. My lights were dented but wasn't so bad until very obvious so I didn't bother to return
4. Sometimes after ordering for 1 month, they can tell u no stock and refund money to you. It can be frustrating, thus, if urgent purchase, don't buy from China

I haven't opened everything yet especially furniture coz house still very dusty. If no edit here, means all good...haha

Yes, ur right...some items are cheaper in taobao itself...but most of the time, prime will be cheaper or almost the same after include shipping fee...I don't really bother if only a few bucks difference unless multiple quantity...here's some stuff I bought...I'm using mobile phone, so too much hassle to paste link...but if anyone wants to know the link, can pm me and I'll send it

These are bought via prime except the order with 3 "big ball" chandelier/hanging light

I presume ur asking about the orange colour shower mounted on wall one...that one I bought silver colour for rm300 (include shipping to doorstep of rm8.80 + rm8)...my contractor has to reposition the pipes to fit it of course...I don't know how much he will charge me for that...all I can say is that shower works like expected (on first few times try)...again I don't know about future problems coz I haven't moved in yet...if u ask me, for now, i look at it and I'm proud of it...haha

If ur asking about the normal shower heads, it's not exactly full stainless steel...I think it's coated stainless steel or the steel is very thin coz it feels light...the head with hose and bar cost rm90+ each (before shipping)...no complaints yet coz water comes out of it at first try...haha

That footstool was rm39...haven't open yet...

One of my best purchased, works beautifully. My corridor is bright but I want it to lit up whenever I'm at the door way, taping the sensor will do the trick or else it will only work when surrounding is dark enough.

If damage is on driver then hopefully can find replacement or else just replace whole thing.

Based on your experience will there be a significant saving buying from Taobao compared to local purchase? (Given the quality is more or less the same)

My experiences from Toabao are so far so good, I bought a dressing table from Ezbuy, the quality is better than local furniture shop.

I also bought a undermount faucet for my water filter, the built is very solid too. (This Taobao seller is after I dig here and there, checkout rating, PM the seller and so-on)

I also bought series of item for my wedding deco which end up beyond my expectation and I save more than RM1k alone for the deco.

But most important part is how to identify a reliable seller in Taobao, must know how to differentiate on the rating. (U may google on taobao seller rating table)

Yes RM 8.80 from their warehouse to Malaysia warehouse only for products they listed as prime. If seller charge sending out goods, you have to pay for it (from seller shop/house to china warehouse), than from Malaysia warehouse to your door (free if selfcollect).

Do you know if they charge for the "repack" fee? So far I buy from them does not have any repack involved, so I do not know if there is such fee.

This is my first prime order, so I don't know if prime order is able to acknowledge purchased item.
But I do used their "Ship For Me" service quite often, out of my 11 "Ship For Me" order, I was able to acknowledge 6 of them. The other 5 orders left half way hanging, even I already received my items long time ago. Maybe the person did not mark the those order as delivered on their side, so I am not able to acknowledge on my side.

Hi all,just wanna ask sifus here that i wanna buy a baby floor mat. purchased went thru but the later day seller says the item is too big to be shipped.

Any idea?  The mat is ard 6ft x 6ft
