I have bought almost RM1K value of electrical and electronic stuffs last month, all without agents, as long as you are good at Chinese and able to type, it is better you buy it without agents.

Taobao offers direct shipping to Malaysia for many items, if those items are not available for direct shipping, you can register forwarder like 65daigou, wiwaa

Price wise, Taobao are price killer for many items, for instance, the Philips hue copycat - Kudled zigbee color LED bulb only selling at RM60 while Philips hue LED bulb is selling at RM250 in Malaysia.

i'm thinking of buying LED lights from China. Checked out taobao and Tmall, but all in chinese. using google translate has it's limitation. not all is translated. anyone can suggest how a non chinese reader buy stuff online from china?

Either you get an agent to buy it for you or get it from local shop

If you stay in Klang Valley, you may come to Puchong, there is one shop next to Tesco, they are selling LED light at pretty competitive price, I saw some of the round type LED down light selling at RM16

I used sea freight, all items cost > RM500, and pass custom without any GST or import tax
