Hi /k

is there anyone here has experienced buying from Alibaba?

i wanted to know how the shipment of goods from Alibaba to Malaysia.

Most of the suppliers are from mainland China, and the pricing term is FOB.

So do i have to go to KLIA airport to collect the items myself or will there any posmen deliver it to my house? hmm.gif

Btw, how to make the term "FOB" bold?

so if i give them my address, they will post it to my address?

as i can see in the supplier pricing, there is a term FOB, where i google-ed it means that the suppliers only responsible for the goods till they uploaded the goods and send it to the port at Malaysia.

After the goods reached Malaysia, the goods will totally under the responsibility of the buyer.

Anyway, they usually send it to your warehouse/house. Did the seller specify which courier service is being used?

after 4 orders, 2 from Alibaba & 2 from its daughter company AlieEpress: here it is:
Their service is reasonable, like 7/10 , perhaps better than Ebay.
One golden rule: Never show anger if delay, be patient & keep ur nurve cool, bcoz som sellers wl simply ignore scolding buyer & u get no item & no money. Personally I hope Alibaba would kill Ebay which is becoming a fraud hub recently.

alibaba or aliexpress?

aliexpress can direct reach yr door

alibaba u have to appoint a forwarder to clear yr stock in custom
beware of GST and forwarder fees and potential import tax depend on item

usually use freight forwarder ler if heavy bulky stuff (stuff that can attract customs)

if normal baju seluar ok ler, see whether the seller willing to ship internationally or not

as far as i know, in alibaba and taobao, most sellers not willing to ship international cause of the paperwork, rather ship to your forwarders address and then forwarder to you

BTW, i just checked the AlieExpress, their delivery is taking too long.....

I believe tht there is a star at the left top of the items which indicates the number of years the company in business. Thus, we can know how trustworthy is the company

basically ... they are middleman ... you dont need to read up on paperworlds for export and import especially you bring in bulk items (not bulk until can set up a factory lar, but like 50 - 100 kilos of fashion jeans ((yes, they go by kilos not by piece))

in terms of payment .... You -- Forwarder -- Seller (you dont need to go through those nasty bank transfer etc .... and, not all merchants accept CC in china, again, regulation)
in terms of product ...... Seller -- Forwarder -- You (import/export paperwork)

some sellers in china find it easier to deal with forwarders as they understand the procedure there .... some more, their banks are highly regulated by the gov and currency ?? RMB/Yuan only got accepted into the currency basket (like a few days ago??)

i deal with them when bring in heavy bulky items, or items that kastam will likely kacau (electronic items?) ... like industrial ventilation fans etc (i mod it into a filter) .... i will go by their recommendation like how to avoid, if not minimize duit derma

There is another way, my neighbor told me about. She flies to China every 4 months. In China there is a middle lady who takes her to different factories where she pics the items and agree to quantity.
Then after the tour she comes back, while the China lady later sends the boxes with the agreed goods.
There are few pro's and cos's here
Pros: more accuracy of item and the level of quality. more chances to see options. more experience of that market.
Cons: it all depends on the middle lady. She may show you only suppliers who give her better commission.
finally this is usually 2 or 3 boxes of accessories, spare parts, or art materials.

I paid for the shipping fee but i didnt fill up anything on alibaba. I dealt directly with the suppliers in alibaba, paid through paypal. So far no problems at all. All the shipments have tracking. You just have to research a bit about the suppliers before you purchase from them.

yeah, some items i bought came around 2-3 weeks. the longest one about 2 months but this item already in Malaysia. the delay is in malaysia logistic. The worst part, these items can be thrown into the house by postman and if u r unlucky it rains, it may gets water if plastic broken and your packaging is in box. one time , they just left my item on the door, somebody could take it.

Yeah, its why I don't buy any fragile items. But I've bought a variety of stuff from fast charge USB cables (really worked as fast charge) to a toy rubber snake (~USD1 each including shipping, I dunno how they make a profit from these...)
