Jatco is using torque converter type CVT which should have faster response when N > D compared to the current punch CVT which people say have some delay before car can move.

I think they will use the VVT for few of their newer models until the Petronas engine is ready.

haha. Nice for him to "unwrap" the car. 1st gear has a lot of torque. Very good for climbing steep hills from stop. Done that climbing up Gunung Brincang. 2 days ago I was climbing Gunung Jerai where 1st, 2nd and 3rd gave sufficient climbing power even from stopped situations. I wouldnt say that its weak just that proton the other time said during PCIM talk with Proton CTO where they said its focused on stopped scenarios on steep hills cuz people complained that preve had these issues. 1st gear top speed is ~40 at redline. 2nd ~80.

Came back from Penang. FC was about >12 and <13. Im not sure how much was the fc going up cuz when I pumped the pump didnt pump till full. Drive was good. Even climbed up gunung jerai which had more steeper points compared to gunung brincang. Car handled well in highway and mountain climbing. I was driving there at around 110-120km/h going up and from 90-140km/h coming back not including certain stretches where it was jam during the mountain area at NSE so speed was about 10-30 there.

I think proton purposely made it that way. 5th gear on manual is also same 110km/h @ 3000 rpm. Should be considered more fuel efficient.

Mine dunno what proton did to it when i complained about the smell when compressor is off but fan is blowing. Suddenly damn cold when driving while AC dial is pointing all the way to the left. On really hot days then different story. Its comfortable but not too cold. I normally have ac blowing at my hands.

Its reliable as long as u input the data correctly and the pump doesnt mess up. The other day I traveled to Penang, upon pumping i got 22 km/l. I was shocked until I realized after driving for <20km then 1 bar dropped then I know that the pump had problem, keep jumping even though I didnt press until full.

Ive done mountains before. Gunung Brincang, Gunung Jerai. All 1 lane steep roads with hardly much run off point. What sucks is following a Myvi going up Jerai at about 20-30km/h up hill. Damn driver already noob yet dowan to give way to other drivers to go pass . Best part is winding ur windows down and driving at low gear so that exhaust sound make u feel like uphill racers. Genting feels very easy compared to these 2.

I normally downshift when speed is ~10 or below. What do u mean by cant shift to 1st gear if speed above 5kmh?

Some people say too sensitive. For me sometimes if detect something it will max buzz then when avoid and nothing there then it will still buzz as if i havent avoided the object.

From my understanding, when it comes to exhaust modifications, theres always a trade off. 4-2-1 increases the acceleration rate but decreases the top speed. From what I know, exhaust mods dont give a lot of hp increments, neither does air intake mods but if done wrongly, it reduces hp. Other things u can think of to increase car performance is changing ignition timing, increasing the red line limit ecu tuning and more.

Also regarding turbo's, theres a variety of turbos to choose from.

PS: similar to you, I intend to upgrade the car in the future so I do plenty of research now.

From my understanding, it all depends on the max torque the engine produces. 1.3 produces max torque of 120Nm@4000 RPM. Iinm Iriz uses the 5MTT200 gearbox which has a max torque of 200Nm so if ur turbo generates more than 200Nm then yes you need to change gearbox. Must as well get a 6 speed gearbox then.

On the side note, Iriz Turbo produces 140hp and 190 Nm of max torque. I dont think we can achieve 300 hp.
