Games you mentioned above were 8-bit.

8-bit era was NES, Nintendo Entertainment System.. It had not much competition that time, because Nintendo was dominating the market in the 80's.. Clones(like the GBA's carts you see now) took over and started building CLONE NES machines. Some know it as "Micro Genius", I know I do.

Anyways, 16-Bit would be Super NES, and also the Sega Megadrive. Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Super <insert bad game title here>..

@ alvin: Oh yea, the 2-player version smile.gif Althought the arcade ver. was much superior in sound, and color pallete.. 4 players too!

Oh my god. You just had to mention that..

Keep shooting the power-up to keep in air, wait for it to change to super power.. WOW.. Shmup + Balancing act.

Did you manage to play the spin-off? The one where you can select many ships before start? Some got rotating shield.. Some shoot short distance but powerful.. 8-Bit ROCKS.

^ Yeah, I played that in my SNES "Mario All-Stars" which included Mario 1, 2, 3, and World biggrin.gif
