I won't recommend you to travel two places on one trip. Not worth the price of transportation + your time + the tiredness.

Just stay in one place per trip. It more than sufficient for you. BTW, if you are going to Tokyo, don't forget to try the one star Michelin ramen

Around what time you will be arriving? Currently, I think cheapest will be Haruka + Icoca pass, costing you around 4k yen for round trip. If you are traveling alone, I think you can get cheap hotel or Airbnb for around 120+

Just checked the haruka icoca website, they are revising their pricing structure, so you only can make reservation for trip before 1st of March

Then my recommendation is to get AirBnb nearby Kyoto Station for 1 night because you have to travel around 50 minutes from airport to Kyoto, so why dun make it at night.
BTW, after 11pm, no more bus and cab rate is much more expensive. Haruka can directly stop at Kyoto station and its better to find any lodging nearby there for staying 1 night

Yes, RM15/day nett.
No hidden charges, Unlimited data quota, but you will required to pay RM200 deposit which will be refunded later and you can collect from KLIA terminal or they will send the device to your home few days before your departure.

The easiest option go to KLCC isetan, they are selling the data sim card for Rm120 for 15 days validity. AFAIK, there is no 2 days option for the sim card.


Cheapest will be airasia, just keep an eye on their promotion. I got mine at RM500x for a return trip, but cheapest I have seen is RM450x for a return trip

Ask sifu, is my plan good enough for the whole day? This is just one of the day on my trips. I'm going to arashiyama and here's the plan

Arashiyama Bamboo groove -> torokko arashiyama to kameoka then back to sagano station -> walk around arashiyama area (most likely nearby tenryuji and sanjodori) and having lunch there -> ryoanji ->kinkakuji -> kitatenmangu

Of course, if you are going to Osaka / Kyoto, you can always opt for their distillery which is nearby Yamazaki station. They have whiskey tasting session which cost around 1.2k but rumor says that the tasted whiskey is not available in the market. You can also visit their museum for some tasting(paid) and shopping.

Can't help you much if out of Kansai area

Require verification from other sifus.
If I recall correctly, JR rail pass starts from the day you claim the ticket from the counter.
Since you are just holding the voucher and exchange it into tickets from the counter, you are basically set the start date on your own.

If you are going to Kyoto, you can just skip the JR rail pass. What is really good for you will be the Kansai Thru pass. JR pass will be very good if you are travelling further than that, such as Kanazawa those places

for me since this time is my first time to Kyoto I'm planning on nearby area or so called popular area.

first day fushimi->Nara->uji
second day arashiyama->ryoanji->kinkakuji
third day amanohashidate
foruth day Kyoto city Center

I think it should be north west east and south.
north - Hokkaido
west - Kansai, Kyushu
south - Okinawa, Shikoku
east - Tokyo ...

I have used it for my trip to Japan this March. My review, speed is good and coverage is good as well. most of the time I can get with full speed except arashiyama, but its considerable okay since its mountain area. However, I would recommend you to get the router from them one or two day earlier before your departure. During my trip, they havent open their counter in KLIA2 yet. So, I have to wait for them to pass me the router and somehow they only reach KLIA2 one hour before my flight. Frightened me out as I thought I almost couldnt make it to my plane. BTW, their main office is around KLCC, so if you happen to be working nearby, then might as well get the router from the main office.
