Re-booked a flight to Tokyo (HND) with credit shell at last AA's free seat promotion. This time will travel at mid-October (12-18 Oct) instead of mid-late May. So far haven't make actual itinerary for this 6D5N trip (skipping the arrival date). Only booked a hostel near Shinjuku area (cancelable since I book via Booking.com) & plan to have at least 50k yen as budget. May switch to stay at business hotels if I have more budget. Also may consider to get a JR East Tohoku Area Pass to make a day-trip (or 2D1N) to Sendai to attend this festival. But I think the latter option is very unpractical especially for first-timers... Otherwise, I think I'll just get a Suica/Pasmo + reload 2-3k yen to spend the entire trip at Tokyo + 1 day-trip outside Tokyo Metropolis (not getting out Kanto area through)...

Not sure is this appropriate to ask about airline (to JP) on here or not, but I gonna ask it anyway. For anyone that ever flew from SIN to either NRT or HND, between JAL, ANA and SIA (any other full-service airline is fine too), which airline is better in terms of airline meals and seat comfortability (economy seats BTW )? Consider to make a Plan B (8-11 days Kanto area trip on March/May 2017) if my current company (worked in SG for about 3 months so far) doesn't approve my leave for my JP trip in October....

Gonna forfeit my air ticket for this Oct because my company said I don't have enough annual leave to take (or else getting warning letter for taking >2 days unpaid leave to cover the remaining days), plus the cost to change flight date on AA can get you another air ticket technically...
Probably will plan a (family) trip to HK or TW on 2017 first, than make a 2-3 weeks (solo) JP trip on 2018 once my WP expires...
