should i buy individual ticket or day pass?
*
JR=Japan Railway, company name. Different lines has different company running it.

your trip: all in one day? or two days or 3 days?

one night??? Just forget about pass. Individual tickets give you more flexibility. You are taking 3 trains, which average is about 180yen.

Don't say like that. I'm still expecting can get 12 years Yamazaki from there one in my incoming trip
*
Its not easy to get now. Dont think even airport has it now. I bought one with Mt Fuji packaging last year from Haneda. Cant find it anymore. Maybe you can order it from Amazon JP but price have already gone up. I have actually bought a few and kept at my home.

Suica cant be used in osaka.

I bought icoca.
*
That is incorrect. Since 2013, all IC cards are compatible with each other and you can use it anywhere in Japan.

Just want to ask a simple question. I am taking shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo station.

From Tokyo station, i can hoop on any local JR line without additional fee right (based on Hyperdia)? So basically when i take JR Yamanote Line and exit at Hamamatsucho station, i just go to manned gates and showed them my shinkansen ticket?

Sorry ah, first time newbie in Japan (soon). Need to get to Roppongi to park my luggage before i stay a night in Shinjuku and next 2 days in Fuji Lake and Hakone.
*
There are two entrance/exit to get to shinkansen and you should have two tickets. When you come out from the Tokyo Station Shinkansen exit, just put in your two ticket into the auto gate. Only one will come out. You are now inside the "normal train" station entrance. Just go to yamanote line and hop to the next train. If your final stop is Tokyo station, just proceed to another exit and put in your ticket in the auto gate.

Yea, the JR Rail Pass is expensive. That's why I'm considering not to buy the JR Pass since most of the time will be in downtown Tokyo but we are planning to Hakone & Lake Kawaguchi or maybe Kamakura as well.

Based on the route map here, I saw that Suica also can be use to enter the major station in Kawaguchi & Hakone & only buy the Fuji Hakone Pass.

It's so confusing for me whether to buy the JR Rail Pass or only depend on the Suica Card while in Tokyo.

No point buying JR pass if its just aroung Tokyo. The place you plan to travel are not far, about 1 to 2 hours.

Go to any BIC Camera or Yodobashi electornic shops and you will find it there. If you prefer iPhone, get it in the Apple store.

the open-dated pass is a normal pass right? Not the express pass right? smile.gif
*
Express pass currently only available in Japanese. I have bought it for my friend and just send them the QR code and they dont need to exchange anything in the counter.

Quite scary actually. It shakes for about 20 seconds. Where I live I think its a 3 but when phone starts to beep it can get unnerving. Tokyo recently have been "quiet" lately. A year back nearly every month there will be small tremor of magnitude of 2 and 3.

What you eat there? ramen dishes are usually below 1k and I eat those kaiten sushi belt 100 yen - 300 yen per plate.
I don't go for those expensive sushi coz I prefer malaysia's sushi haha. Japan's sushi got a very raw taste which I dunno why, Plus I already used to mix soy sauce with wasabi which I heard it's not a correct way to eat sushi.
*
You are one of the really rare person who prefers Malaysia sushi rather than Japan! In Malaysia, its not fresh compare to what they serve here. As for how you eat it is basically up to you. You pay for it and you can eat whatever way yo want....though might be different with the Obama sushi shop in Ginza (cannot remember the name due to old age). If you want to dip in soy sauce you can still do it but correct way is to dip the sushi and not the rice. If not the rice will be soak with sauce.

Shop name was called Sukiyabashi Jiro
In that shop you need eat as his way. Cannot add extra wasabi or dip any sauce. Ratio all manage by him already.

He will kick you out from shop if not follow his way.
*
Yeah, I remember something Jiro. Not only that you have to put all the sushi in your mouth and cannot bite half of it.

Ah this make more sense to me now, already revised my plan well thanks to you bro. Lol i forget to put Kuromon Market but will definitely going there to try the Kobe Beef at Page 1. I come to realized that ill be going at Feb (during winter) do i need those windbreaker & thermal at Tokyo & Kansai?
Oh wow really? Lucky im going solo! Lol. I just wanna check out those 2nd hand stuffs at Nakano. Anyways, i was thinking just to drag around my backpack during day 3, since i will travel light, backpacking, and will check-in at Shinjuku after Akihabara trip. Do you think it would be fine?
*
You can drag your bag but why all the hassle? Why do you need to change hotel when they within are 30mins of each other. Of course this is really up to you if you are comfortable walking with backpacks.

highest only take me about 800

For my missus birthday two years back, we had dinner in one of the 5 star hotel and it set me back 60Kyen in total. Its a mixture of Kobe beef and western food. smile.gif. Its just once a lifetime thing that you want to do.

For business dinner, 20K yen per person is normal.
