thats harsh

then will it be foolish to go on September?

in your opinion, should I go on October to avoid such things to happen plus colder weather :3
*
October will be more perfect but this also mean the hotel price start increasing. September are cheapest season.
September Japan very similar to Malaysia. Hot, full of rain.

Just want to ask a simple question. I am taking shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo station.

From Tokyo station, i can hoop on any local JR line without additional fee right (based on Hyperdia)? So basically when i take JR Yamanote Line and exit at Hamamatsucho station, i just go to manned gates and showed them my shinkansen ticket?

Sorry ah, first time newbie in Japan (soon). Need to get to Roppongi to park my luggage before i stay a night in Shinjuku and next 2 days in Fuji Lake and Hakone.
*
No such thing unless you using JR Rail Pass.
Shinkansen ticket only valid for you ride from Kyoto Station To Tokyo Station only. At Tokyo Station you need to buy JR Yamanote line ticket to Hamatsucho Station.

Shinkansen ticket have no power to take any JR local train as free.

BTW, if you want go Hamamatsucho Station. Just get down from Shinagawa Station. No need go until Tokyo Station. Shinagawa Station to Hamamatsucho Staion by Yamanote Line much faster.

Got a reason to stop in Tokyo station. Gf want to go to Ekiben Matsuri -.-'

Anyway, it wouldn't matter. I go out and take subway lines also abt same cost to go Roppongi

==ll
Another sad case control by woman again.
If cannot eat Ekiben inside Shinkansen or Limited Express train. It dont have any meaning anymore.

Wah sifu, this time I win you  biggrin.gif  the method said by sacwoc is correct. I asked about this previously at Japan Guide and have also done it too, from Shin-Osaka to Shinagawa on Nozomi and then JR local / Yamanote line to Ueno. Not using any JR pass.

At Shin-Osaka Station:
- Insert both ticket at the same time to the entry gate.
- Collect both tickets.

At Shinagawa Station (do not exit JR station):
- Insert both tickets at the shinkashen transfer gate.
- Collect the base fare ticket only.

At Ueno Station
- Insert the base fare ticket at the exit gate.
- No ticket will be collected.
*
This method only works on Nozomi Shinkansen.
I very less taking Nozomi class.
One of reason I dont want Japan PR was to enjoy JR passes.

from my understanding, it works regardless whether it is nozomi, hikari or kodama as long as you have the shinkansen ticket and the base ticket. If using JR Pass, then no need to worry about all this anymore  biggrin.gif
*
Shit.
Never think of ths way before.
I some times no using JR Passes. Talkng Nozomi train.
After reach station I throw the ticket away and buy local train ticket again.

Back from Kumamoto.
Very tired.
Work 16 hour per day.

Full of aftershock. Miss the 1st 7 magnitude quake but I feel the 6 magnitude aftershock which collapse most of bridge and 2000 years old shire.

Everyday 3 to 4 magnitude scale aftershock.

Delivery full of food and water but still not enough.

It's about rm1k per person and it's expected since it's 2-star michelin restaurant.
*
Abit Too expensive.
Rm1000 to Rm1500 are 3 star price.
2 star price should be Rm400 to Rm800 per pax.
1 star price around Rm50 to Rm300

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Apr 20 2016, 09:46 PM)
Guys, Otaru is a 1-day or 2-days trip? Seems like it is similar to Kurashiki whereby the canal area can be explored in less than a day.

Very rough plan:

Sapporo - 3 days
Otaru - 1 day (day trip)
Furano / Biei - 1 day (day trip)
Noboribetsu / Lake Toya - 1 day (day trip)

Still thinking whether want to allocate 1 or 2 days for Furano / Biei. Since this is suppose to be a lavender trips, seems rugi if just go there for 1 day. If 2 days, will still be making daily trips.

Not going to Hakodate due to distance, time and cost factor. Staying at Sapporo throughout the trip.
*
Otaru can be done by one day trip plus it was not far away from Sapporo.
For most of people 1 day trip enough unless you got alot of info about Otaru like my level then need 2 - 3 days

Noboribetsu best was staying overnight due to famous onsen. If staying overnight then can combo it with Lake Toya.
If day Trips...not really recommended (My Advice).
I will put more day on Furano or Asahikawa.

I got alot of tips....maybe will put on Tips of the months or else just PM me for Advance Tips brows.gif

I proposed to my parents for having family trip to Hokkaido during January which is snow season, but they afraid of cold and they suggest to go there on April. Is April a good month to go Hokkaido? It seems like the snow start melting and there is no snow skiing activities anymore. Anyone been to Hokkaido during April? What was it like? TQ

Hi

I know this thread has all the information but I just need some pointer from anyone who can give me some tips on my itinerary

I have booked my flight ticket from SG to Tokyo on 14/12 and initial plan spend couple of days in Tokyo then travel to Mt Fuji on 19/12 and i have booked a Ryokan for 1 night.

and I am planning to travel from Mt Fuji to Kyoto on 20/12 and may be spend 3 days in kyoto then back to Tokyo as my return flight is on 26/12

Please accept my sincere apologies if anyone think I am lazy just the information is too much to read.

Thanks
*
Spending 3 days at Kyoto was waste of time. Save it for next trip. Focus more at Tokyo and Lake Kawaguchiko and Hakone.

For Lake Kawaguchiko and Hakone info refer to Page1.
Start do the homework. If lazy then just take the tour trip. Everything been organized.

I'm keen on a trip to Jepun comes November but I wonder if it would start snowing already? AFAIK, it's going to be winter and temperature would be dropping to 10 degrees or lower at night. Would it be a good idea to swing by Hakone or Mt Fuji area, then? Alas, no plan to go these few months else can attempt on climbing Mt Fuji since the season started recently... Any thoughts? Thanks!  icon_rolleyes.gif

November wont get snow. End of December to Feb // March (Hokkaido) only have snow.

Climb Mt Fuji are my hardest exp in Japan. Feel like dying due to Altitude sickness. Only place in Japan I goes once only. No more 2nd trip. Swear to god already.

It can used on all kind of public transport. Bus , tram , Monorail , Subway//Metro , JR trains or Private train except Taxi and Shinkansen.

You also can used these card on vending machine, payment on those 24 hour Convinience Store.

Anybody know how to make a restaurant reservation in advance before arriving Tokyo?
*
What the heck? This also dunno.
Call them directly or sent them Email. Whole world reservation also same. This is basic common logic.

Japan most restraurant wont make "Gaijin" reservation.
