Just want to ask a simple question. I am taking shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo station.

From Tokyo station, i can hoop on any local JR line without additional fee right (based on Hyperdia)? So basically when i take JR Yamanote Line and exit at Hamamatsucho station, i just go to manned gates and showed them my shinkansen ticket?

Anyway, it wouldn't matter. I go out and take subway lines also abt same cost to go Roppongi

Wah sifu, this time I win you    the method said by sacwoc is correct. I asked about this previously at Japan Guide and have also done it too, from Shin-Osaka to Shinagawa on Nozomi and then JR local / Yamanote line to Ueno. Not using any JR pass.

At Shin-Osaka Station:
- Insert both ticket at the same time to the entry gate.
- Collect both tickets.

At Shinagawa Station (do not exit JR station):
- Insert both tickets at the shinkashen transfer gate.
- Collect the base fare ticket only.

At Ueno Station
- Insert the base fare ticket at the exit gate.
- No ticket will be collected.

from my understanding, it works regardless whether it is nozomi, hikari or kodama as long as you have the shinkansen ticket and the base ticket. If using JR Pass, then no need to worry about all this anymore

It's about rm1k per person and it's expected since it's 2-star michelin restaurant.

Guys, Otaru is a 1-day or 2-days trip? Seems like it is similar to Kurashiki whereby the canal area can be explored in less than a day.

Very rough plan:

Sapporo - 3 days
Otaru - 1 day (day trip)
Furano / Biei - 1 day (day trip)
Noboribetsu / Lake Toya - 1 day (day trip)

Still thinking whether want to allocate 1 or 2 days for Furano / Biei. Since this is suppose to be a lavender trips, seems rugi if just go there for 1 day. If 2 days, will still be making daily trips.

Not going to Hakodate due to distance, time and cost factor. Staying at Sapporo throughout the trip.

I proposed to my parents for having family trip to Hokkaido during January which is snow season, but they afraid of cold and they suggest to go there on April. Is April a good month to go Hokkaido? It seems like the snow start melting and there is no snow skiing activities anymore. Anyone been to Hokkaido during April? What was it like? TQ

I have booked my flight ticket from SG to Tokyo on 14/12 and initial plan spend couple of days in Tokyo then travel to Mt Fuji on 19/12 and i have booked a Ryokan for 1 night.

and I am planning to travel from Mt Fuji to Kyoto on 20/12 and may be spend 3 days in kyoto then back to Tokyo as my return flight is on 26/12

Please accept my sincere apologies if anyone think I am lazy just the information is too much to read.

I'm keen on a trip to Jepun comes November but I wonder if it would start snowing already? AFAIK, it's going to be winter and temperature would be dropping to 10 degrees or lower at night. Would it be a good idea to swing by Hakone or Mt Fuji area, then? Alas, no plan to go these few months else can attempt on climbing Mt Fuji since the season started recently... Any thoughts? I have so far planned some of the itinerary for my up coming trip in Dec as follows:-

1. 14/12 - arrived Narita and will stay in Shinjuku
2. 15/12 - Travel to Hakone
3. 16/12 - check out from hotel and travel to Yokohama
4. 17/12 - check out from hotel and travel to Tokyo

I have from 17-27 and just want to ask should I venture out to some other place like kyoto or any other place or just stay in Tokyo?
