For willer you should buy online it's cheaper. They have an online discount.

I would personally skip Shirakawago many people will say it's a must visit. It's the only place I been where suddenly it's full of mainland Chinese and furthermore u are not staying there so may not been worthwhile. It's just to see kampung house which takayama  has a few but u have to put up with the mad hassle which takes away from the village feel .

Gokayama is so much better. Kanazawa is so much better or spend more time in taka yama. However takayama  has many temple on the hillside like Kyoto may feel the same to some if done on the same trip.

But isnt it that only Shirakawa has all the palm clapping shaped roof houses (合掌村)? that has become trendy in social media. Any other places which has the palm shaped roof?

Kanazawa is much further up than Shirakawago.. hmm.. might not have enough time since we only stay one night in Takayama before heading to Osaka.

Hi all,

The place I plan to stay in Kyoto is kinda far from the train stations, but affordable. It seems that I can take a bus to the train stations.

Is there any way I can get information on which bus to take, their times, etc..? Also, how reliable are buses in Kyoto? Is there anything like 5-day bus pass or something?

Thanks!

The grassho house can be seen I think in nagoya, takayama
They have special museum to cater for tourist not visiting it gokayama or shirakawago

And I saw one grassho house moved into shimoda area by the owner privately. Stay in takayama and spend more time there. Because from takayama to Shirakawago travel time is about 3hours back and forth

Google Map is ur best friend, I relied on that during my first trip to JP last year, just get a sim card upon arrival and pop it into ur smartphone, i recommend So-net (Sony) data SIM. It costs about 3000 Yen.

buses in Kyoto are way better than even the ERL in Malaysia, in terms of time punctuality, no worries on that, japs value their time punctuality as much as their lives

there re 3/5/7 days of tourist passes available, that one u need to do a bit of research, as the passes are kinda region dependent, which means some passes are for use in Kyoto only, while some are for Osaka only, some does not include JR trains, so make ur choices according to ur itinerary

Bus is more convenient than subway in Kyoto (except for visiting Fushimi Inari shrine where u need to travel by train). You can purchase the unlimited daily bus pass which pay itself off if you travel by bus 3 times and above

For kyoto bus schedule, check http://www.arukumachikyoto.jp/map.php?lang=en

PhakFuhZai, I tried Google Map, for me it didn't help much probably coz I don't know how to read the bus descriptions - it's like in kanji or Chinese or something..

tohff7, thanks for the feedback, I'm quite surprised the hear that. I thought I will be using trains most of the time. smile.gif

I'm currently planning my 12 day trip to Kyoto/Osaka - currently 4 days allocated to Kyoto (might add-on more days..)

There are 2 places I'm looking at to stay. One is 20 minutes walk to Higashino station, another one is 12 minutes walk to Uzumasa Station. Both are far from the tourist attractions, but I feel that the one with Uzumasa Station is closer and more convenient.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

They watches you find in Jackroad, dont think you can find it at premium outlet. They sell mostly luxury watches and used one too.

Hi. Our upcoming trip to Hokkaido end of July is as follows

Day 1 - Arrive in Chitose / Furano / Biei / Overnight in Asahikawa
Day 2 - Noboribetsu / Lake Toya
Day 3 - Hakodate
Day 4 - Niseko
Day 5 - Shakotan Peninsular / Otaru
Day 6 - Jozankei Dam / Overnight Sapporo
Day 7 - Sapporo City / Overnight in Chitose
Day 8 Fly Back ..

But i am thinking if its better to stay in either Hakodate or Niseko for 2 nights instead and just visit Otaru for a couple of hours before staying overnight in Sapporo City.

Any suggestions ? Thanks smile.gif

HI psiloveyou,

Thanks for your comment. thumbup.gif

Forgot to mention that we are renting a car .. so will reach Chitose around 820am, pickup car and go straight to Furano / Biei .. tomita farm / lavender park / blue pond etc. Yea will probably reach Asahikawa evening just to makan and rest at hotel before driving down to Noboribetsu.

Niseko - i know its probably not as nice as winter .. but i saw there is also fruit picking, hot air balloon .. etc.

Is there a need to stay in Hakodate for 2 nights instead (by sacrificing our overnight in Otaru) .. or do you think i should stay overnight in Otaru ?

Thanks
