Nop. Just under Tokyo City. 40 minute flight from Haneda.

Google it.  Rumor say it was Island of Godzillla home.

Got it, just out of Izu peninsular.

Hi guys,

Good day, well 3 more weeks and i'm flying off to Tokyo.
Here i wanna ask some question for those who are experienced travelling to Tokyo.

My friend who is travelling with me would like to buy Samantha Thavasa bag for his gf.
I tried searching and found quite a few of this brand shop in Tokyo.

My question is, other than this brand shop which normally is located in shopping centre, where else can i find branded goods? (eg: places like Ginza? or so, can i get some names of places that you guys can recommend?)

Thank you.

Omotesando hills, Shibuya also can.

no mention about all nippon airways?? I bought mine for 1300 return baggage included... this coming october

ANA is a good deal, the downside is that they make this particular flight Halal compliant, therefore other than the Boeing 787 and the cabin crew, the food isn't really ANA at all, by comparing the menu between direct flight from KUL and SIN, I ended up paying RM200 extra to fly from SIN, can fly into HND somemore. No offense intended.

JAL is also giving good price if you buy in pair (Companion fare), RM1200 to RM1700 depending on low or peak. That being said, even at peak RM1700 is still cheaper than MAS usual RM2400 ++ (unless promo which is usually also RM1700).

P/S: Ok just read the first page. Sorry boss. No more.

Just a quick question. I'm planning to visit Hakone and Kawaguchiko using Fuji Hakone pass. Will be staying one night at Hakone and Kawaguchiko.

Which route is better, Shinjuku-Kawaguchiko-Hakone or Shinjuku-Hakone-Kawaguchiko?

I was just wondering whether i can maximise my trip because i will likely be staying in Gora, which is midway of the Hakone loop. Or is this not a valid concern since it won't take a long time to complete the loop in one-day (assuming i start early from Tokyo)?
*
At a glance, would say Shinjuku to Hakone first, cause can go by Odakyu Odawara Line.

To me though, IMHO staying 1 night each at Hakone and Kawaguchiko is quite redundant.

Hi RC, can you elaborate more regarding this?
As i read before this, my understanding is that i can still buy this pass at Narita Airport, is it correct? or it is those exchange order at Malaysia?

[attachmentid=6196726]
http://www.tokyometro.jp/en/ticket/value/travel/

Also, since you mentioned Suica or Pasmo is cheaper, which part is cheaper compared to this pass?
I wish to learn more since you mentioned it thanks =)
*
You can buy at Airport designated counter, or any major BIC Camera. Just show your passport.

For Narita T1 and T2, it is as shown in the diagram, it's the Keisei Bus Counter.

For Haneda, it is at the Tourist Information Center, you will not miss it since it is right in front of you when you come out.

Alternatively, you may also get them bundled with Airport Limousine (Haneda, Narita), NEX (Narita only) or Keisei Skyliner (Narita only).

This pass will only save you a lot if you take like more than 4 trips of subs/day. Which it may happen or it may not depending on your arrangement.
Obviously the 3 day pass at 1500 yen (500 yen per day) is best since it is easier to make the cost worthwhile.

Ok, will check out Momijiya. I already plan go Karuizawa Outlet on the first day with the pass. Cooler air +shopping. If the weather too hot, then, I may just take train back to Shinjuku and hide inside the shopping malls instead of detour to Lake Kawaguchiko. Thanks for the reminder on sunblock. Plan to try out Japanese ones.
I know summer will be hot. But I figure with me going solo, nobody will complain if I want to walk in the sun see sunflowers, attend summer festivals and fireworks. I was in Taiwan in July once and swore off summer traveling for a few years. But Japanese summer got too many seasonal activities. Want to try at least once. But will have a list of air cond shopping malls as backup once I got tired of the hot weather. SUMMER SALES!  brows.gif

I will stay at Sugamo actually. So, I think I might as well pop down from the hotel and try my luck see can get Tsuta ticket or not.

Summer, can go climb Mt. Fuji.

Starting from 11 September 2016, JAL will start using Boeing 787-9 for KUL - NRT route.

Though the price is not as cheap as ANA, but the seat config is much better (2-4-2) as compared to ANA (3-3-3). And you don't need to wake up so early to catch the flight.

My understanding; yes. SUICA is like our Touch n Go, but can only be used in Tokyo. Whereas JR Rail Pass, it's bloody expensive, and not worth buying unless you'll be traveling outside of Tokyo from one area to another area frequently via shinkansen.
*
Correction, SUICA and in fact all regional IC cards are now inter-usable.

Can afford and willing to pay is a different story.  biggrin.gif
My record is still same as you 30k yen/pax and that only once! My average meal for whole day is now about 2000 yen if I were to eat out for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
*
About the same, I spend average 1800 yen daily for meal when I was there.

The most expensive for me is only 8000 yen per pax.

I have a question about connecting flights between narita-haneda-KIX. If it's out of topic, please do let me know.

I was checking the flights from ANA from KL to KIX and i noticed that there's no direct flight and it required me to fly from KL to Narita, then arrange a transport myself to Haneda and then from Haneda to fly to KIX. The time given between landing in Narita to departure from Haneda is about 4.5 hours. Have anyone tried this? Do you think it's enough time to travel between the airport and go through all the security check and queues?

I checked the transport between Narita and Haneda and seems like the airport limo is the fastest with about 85 mins to 100 mins. There's a different option from ANA which gives me an extra 20 minutes to almost 5 hours window time. Will it be sufficient? Thanks. Sorry if it's a bit out of topic.

My original plan was to have AA fly me to KIX and then fly back from Narita. But the price difference between AA and ANA is only 200... and that's even during promo period..
*
To me it is enough. If you want hassle free, then Limo Bus is best.

ANA flight from KUL and to KUL is a halal flight, so no real Japanese food up there, plus depending on luck, most of the time this flight of NH816 will not get a proper gate with jet bridge.

vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

totally not worth of it

Yea... The timing is actually closely mirror to that of Air Asia X.

But at below RM1K two way, it's actually good choice to many. Ok no more of price related.

Hi RegentCid,

biggrin.gif no climbing experience but will try it out anyway  laugh.gif .

Yup, only highway express bus to Gotemba. Tried to find a good onsen place nearby Gotemba to stay once we came down from Fuji but can't find any.

Only found all those nice onsen located at Kawaguchiko area.
*
I'd like to climb also, aiming next summer. Looking through many blogs for their write up and official info.
Remember to post a postcard from top of Mt. Fuji.

As you might probably know, even coming down takes like 2.5 to 4 hours depending on physical fitness. Your best bet is really on Kawaguchiko area, assuming you are taking the most popular trail, the Yoshida Trail. If you want better access to Gotemba, you need to take the Gotemba Trail which has a much longer climbing time/distance. The good thing is, less crowded.

P/S: Sorry, realized you choose Subashiri Trail.

I have climb Mt Fuji a few during my younger days and actually its not that difficult. Now of course will definitely be a big ask! Of the many times I did there was one time I fail to reach the top due to typhoon. I reached the 8 station in the middle of the night and suddenly it started to rain heavily with strong wind. Stuck outside of the small hut a few hours with lots of people for a few hours. Once the storm die down I quickly cabut. Hence before you climb you really have to check the weather.....though it might not be accurate as you are "high up there". Besides that you will also encounter "traffic jam". Lots of people especially senior citizen will be making their way up.
*
Traffic jam might be good for first timers, as "some people" said lol.

Aiya, thought can ask you go climb next year le...

hi guys,

going to tokyo for 9 days.

to those with experience, where is the best place to stay with convenience to explore each parts of tokyo? one of my friend suggest dogenzaka because of the night life over there (pubs where you can chill at night) and is near to everything.

are there any better place?

please help @_@
*
Stay near any major stations will be good. Many will suggest you Shinjuku or Shibuya. I prefer Ikebukuro.

You mentioned pubs, perhaps Shinjuku or Shibuya.

Dogenzaka is a happening area in Shibuya.
