The review's pretty good IMO.
I can't use this because the max speed available in Kelantan tops @ 4Mbps at my area, won't be needing a high-end modem-router

It shouldn't spoil easily given that the modem doesn't hit from a lightning, any modem goes haywire if it was struck by lightning
Get a good surge protection for your modem, like this one from Belkin which I'm using currently
