I hope we can discuss here the various telcos who offer unlimited calls and SMS with the emphasis on people who talk a lot.

Recently I got so spoiled by Friendi's unlimited talk/SMS and 0.5gig plan for rm 40 per month (actually it cost only rm30 with relaod bonus). That is the steal of the century even though it may have not been truly unlimited in that the T&C stated 1,000 minutes to all networks and 500 SMS which was good enough for me. Sadly they got greedy and sneaky and Friendi's plans are no longer attractive.

Before moving to U Power Prepaid, I did some research - it seems there's a dearth of such unlimited call plans:

1. Maxis One Plan rm98 which offers 1 gig of data
2. Celcom does not seem to have any unlimited talk plans at the moment
3. Digi has the Smart Plan rm65, though no SMS with 3 gig of data
4. U Mobile has the Hero rm70 plan, again no SMS with 7 gig of data

As far as I know, no other operators post or prepaid have any other such unlimited talk/SMS plans.

One observation - you get really comfortable with such plans - missed calls or not convenient, always call back. If the call recipient's phone always goes quickly into voice mail, no problem. Hate those interactive voice operators employed by big companies and banks - again no problem - 15 to 30 minutes on the phones with such systems won't cost expensive paid call time. No need to feel stressed calling numbers where you know there are long wait times on call holding.

I hope more operators jump on the unlimited call/SMS bandwagon for below rm50 (albeit with little or no data which can be an add on for those who need more).

With unlimited calls and high quota of data, I doubt blink.gif much people would need unlimited sms since it can be easily replaced by apps such as whatsapp.

actually for my needs, 1 gig of data is more than enough. I agree with your point on SMS and for that very reason, they should throw it in for free as well! SMS sometimes still has advantages over Whatsapp

I'm using Maxis Business Value Plus Supreme post paid plan. Where the data is pay per use. I get 38 hours/month call time within community, 10 sen/min to Maxis and non Maxis line, 300 sms/month and no monthly commitment. Let's say if I use RM1 dat month, I juz pay RM1. Not sure if this plan still available or not. I've been using this plan to call my friends and family who is on Maxis. My monthly fees is just RM3-4. RM10 at max.

For data, I have my Maxis Wireless Broadband, the 1.5gb + 1.5gb. It's getting expensive after GST, it's like RM50 per month. Thot of cancelling it and go for umobile's U28. for RM28 per month, it has 3GB of data quota. hmm.gif

I don't understand what you mean when you say you get 38 hours per month call time within community. What is community. What about charges to other telco/fixed lines?

If you get 38 hours for just Maxis to Maxis, all your contact must be with Maxis!

thought of switching to Smartplan 65, but after check ( its Smartplan 88 to Smartplan 65, consider downgrade, only Digi Centre can perform )

at the end, sign iphone package and take 98V plan

unlimited calls laugh.gif
2GB + 2GB ( free for 12 months )

so far so good, no concern on phone bills anymore. sweat.gif

quite a lot of difference in price between the rm65 and the rm88 and rm98 ones. the only difference i can see is the amount of data bundled:

the 65 plan gives 1+2 gig
the pricier one gives 2+2 gig.

Did I miss out anything?

I still think UMobile hero plan is most worth getting. Very straight forward, meaning no restrictions no catch and yes many ppl complaint less coverage but I dont find that seems to be the main issue.

yes, the hero 70 plan is the undisputed value leader today. A whopping 7 gig and unlimited calls but no SMS. Without doubt for those who need the data, it is a god send.

But there are many of us, me included, who have broadband in the house and office and most of the time we're in one of the 2 places. Occasionally whilst out or on the road we need some data, usually 500mb to 1 gig a month.

That's why I hope some telco offers less data for less money. Maybe a Hero 50 with 2 gig data and unlimited calls.
