Hi i currently own 2 audio interfaces
i originally had a focusrite 2i2 that i started with
recently i got a used m-audio firewire 410 audio interface which has a firewire connection

i was thinking to get a M-audio profire 2626 and wanted to know from any M_AUDIO USERS (or just people with in-depth know how) if i will benefit from any improved quality or improved preamps (thats what im after)

NOTE: i only use 2 inputs. 1 for the vocals and 1 for guitar so im absolutely happy with 2 inputs, but im wondering if ill see any quality improvement while still using 2 inputs of the 2626
im willing to spend extra $$$$ for the quality even if the extra I/O ports will be useless for me

Thanks in advance!

the 410 is quite an old interface.
2626 isnt that old but you are mainly paying more for the additional i/o.

Also one of the cheapest firewire interface you can find

i had a 410 many years ago. I would say it was good then but nowadays you could get better interfaces.

anyways, have you tried looking for used units of RME interface or Apogee Duet?
Comparing them side by side and you will be amazed at the differences.

by the way would it be better to keep the 410 and get a good preamp to pair it with or get an RME?
an interface can only do so much A/D conversion but the preamps make the most difference i think?

RME supports windows.
410's a/d isnt good and you can actually hear it, hence not much point getting a good pre then going through bad conversions. i'd recommend capturing as clean as you can first, which starts with a good interface. dont worry about pre's too much unless you have USD2k ready to spend.
