Hello,hope someone here might help
So here's my problem..
I recently had to reformat my laptop due to faulty windows
Restored back clean windows 7..however,currently it's running on a standard VGA
I previously had upgraded to a NVIDIA GTX 680m (from 480m)
I believed when i upgraded it,the bios was flashed or something..i had no idea how,as it was done by someone else before
Made some googlilng, but still cant seem to get it fixed
I try downloading the new driver with the latest version from NVIDIA website
However, when i install it, i have the error "NVDIA installer can not continue, the graphic driver could not find compatible graphics hardware
Problem is, when I search under control panel -> Device manager -> Display adapters , only the standard VGA graphic adaptor is available
-But when i use nvidia website to auto detect my GPU- it is actually detectable

At the moment,im clueless of what i should do next
hope someone here can be able to help me
Thanks a lot in advance

Im using A sager 17" laptop on a CLEVO p170HMx
Intel core i7 - 2630QM CPU @ 2.00Ghz
OS Windows 7 ultimate 64bit

Download GPU-Z to check your GPU :-

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Basically you cant change the GPU by just flashing the BIOS.
The technician need to physically change the GPU processor which is soldered on to the motherboard - it take a lot time and works.
Usually due to compatible issue, changing GPU on notebook motherboard is not possible.

Thanks for the reply
I reckon changing GPU on notebook is quite a hassle, but is actually do-able
Most custom notebooks are able to do so,in fact it was done on my laptop some time ago - and it is compatible
But now,i kind of have to redo the whole process all over again- which i dont know how to cry.gif

What does the GPU-Z show about the notebook GPU?

Is it 680m or 480m?

Just to clarify things, the problem did not arise because i upgraded my GPU..that was done like 2 years ago.
My windows recently got corrupted,so i had to reformat and install a clean one
So now ,even though my GPU is detectable (even with the GPU-Z) , but it still running on standard VGA

Windows 7 is old, and not that intelligent.

What about getting Nvidia site to detect the GPU?

i think you need nvidia inf mod. that's how you install newer gpu drivers for your laptop, because your gpu is not officially supported for your laptop.

usually we download standard gpu driver installer from geforce.com, and then use a matching inf to replace the stock inf provided by the driver installer, then run the setup to install it. if you cannot find it, try look up tutorials on how to modify the stock one.

Just install the Intel HD VGA Driver first, then only you can proceed to install the Nvidia Driver download from nvidia website.

Yes,i used NVIDIA website as well to detect my GPU , it was detectable - but that was just it , nothing much can be done further
Windows 7 is very much reliable still at the moment.Windows 10 still has a lot of issues

Yeah,i think i need the mod inf . -since my GPU is not officially supported
I have been searching throughout how to install the mod inf.
Here's my problem ;
1. When opening device manager -> display adapters : there's only standard VGA graphic adapter shown
2. The latest driver update from NVIDIA Geforce for my GTX680m is version 359.00 -but when i search for mod inf from www.laptopVideo2go.com, only the windows 10 version available
3. Even if i try to look from www.laptopVideo2go.com ,i can not even search for the mod file as i dont know the PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_ ...... (because NVIDIA 680m not detectable from device manager)

So now im stuck back to square one.
Im quite a newbie at this, but man this is more complicated than i thought

yeah you need to get the correct hardware id first. was your 680m from clevo or dell? maybe you can try to use third party tools, like gpu-z or hwinfo, to see if it can show you the id or not.

from what i have read here, there is no laptopvideo2go modded inf for your laptop since some times ago. maybe you need to dig deeper.

you might wanna take a look at these posts from nbr also:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/nv...-tested.684721/
or
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/su...e-4#post8714742

just be careful when it goes beyond inf mods, e.g. vbios or bios updates. your laptop is a sager, not a vanilla clevo. sager might make their own bios and if your laptop is flashed with a non-sager standard clevo bios, it might become bricked.

i have a 880m running in my m17x r4. luckily for me there are kind people still releasing working modded inf for this card.
