my batt life about 3hours+ before 7.1.1.0 , 50% brightness , mix usage between wifi and 3g, dual sim standby.

AFTER 7.1.1.0 , if  wifi , 50% brightness , no root , can easily get 3,5hours.

now (7.1.1.0)  , root , downclocked to 1.3ghz , 50% brightness , mix usage wifi and 3g , 4.5 hours no problems ... another 5% on battery left

currently testing on a 2hours movie to test on battery.

Once u root ur rn2,u can install CPU Tweak ,to over /underclock ur rn2 processor speed . if u want to squeeze more battery ,u need to underclock it to 1.5Ghz to 1.3Ghz . mind u,it will affect the phone performance. I use mainly for whatsapp and browsing , and I didn't feel any significant slow after I done so .

For battery calibration ,go playstore and search for this keyword ... U need to calibrate ur battery whenever u update ur firmware . to get more accurate battery life .

Hi, I have some questions to ask. Mine is on V7.0.8

1. What is the easiest way to root this phone without going through PC, for simplicity sake? I tried the twrp287.zip of the Method 2 in the miui forum, but it states that "signature verification failed" when I tried to install it from Mi Updater.

2. Is the font on 7.1.1 the same as 7.0.8? I heard that the font cannot be changed, but if its giving the same font as 7.0.8, then I don't mind upgrading, since I won't change my font anyway. Can someone on 7.1.1 post a screenshot of their font here for comparison?

3. If I have rooted my phone, do I need to unroot it first before performing OTA update or a reformatting, or it's fine to do that while my phone is rooted?
