Can someone check what the temperature is when you think the phone is quite warm or heated up during surfing, videos or games? I used CPU Temperature app and CPU-Z to check. I get around 54C and 60C showing in those apps. Haven't used such multicore phone before so not sure what is considered normal.
*
Mine on idle, check on "Thermal" tab on CPU-Z, already around 44C, but not feel that hot in hand, just a bit warm.

what is different between malaysia set and imported set, is it ok if i buy imported set from 1gadget?
*
Spec should be the same, but no warranty, warranty is by supplier, not official by Xiaomi Malaysia.

Guys... between RN2 n MI4i... which wud be a better choice ? Not going to compare it on price... I do not play games, only social messaging, basic telephony and web...

Haven't place my booking and worry wrong choice chosen...    hmm.gif
*
Feature wise, RN2>Mi4i.
- Expandable memory, removable battery, IR port
- 5.5 inch screen (preference only, but I like bigger screen phone)

Processor and graphic wise should be better also. (RN2 Mediatek Helio X10 vs Mi4i Snapdragon 615)
Others are quite similar
-16GB storage
-2GB RAM
-Dual sim
-4G
-Full HD screen

ya, true, nobody force me, but their statement is really forcing me to buy ori set  tongue.gif
i will ask them 1st abt the warranty details 1st, thanks

Trust me la.
Only buy original phone.
Personally I have a few troublesome cheap phone.
But the warranty save it.

Just send the phone to authorised service center, they will do the rest. And now, those phone are working fine, they have been send to service center 3 times in a year, but really no need worry on repair.

Authorised service center also will replaced with original part only, servicing also very fast, at most 2 week can settle all.

If you dun mind, let me make a distinction here between original and local manufacturer warranty. hahaha for our friend who feels "forced to buy ori" LOL

IMHO, I'll bet those AP phone are original Xiaomi phones. Anybody in M'sia can buy in bulk from china or wherever at a can-make-profit cost & sell here as AP set. They are not cheating anybody if you ask them if it is original or fake. Just like we found out, can call Xiaomi M'sia CS hotline & give IMEI # & they'll tell u China hahaha original maaaa

The only difference is that the seller won't have a proper service & repair team/dept** if the shit hits the fan with the set smile.gif  And if it does hit the fan & things turn out sour, please please dun say ppl cheat you smile.gif

** Edit ... We bought from Lazada because they said covered by Xiaomi M'sia. If Lazada didn't say that, I wouldn't have bought even with the RM100 voucher. If our friend will look back at those pages & pages of comments on Xiaomi M'sia warranty, then he'll understand smile.gif

Our advice will be just advice la, just an opinion.
Different people, different experience.
Decision is still on our friend.

Just like I buy the Xiaomi Bluetooth speaker, is confirm imported product, only 3 month supplier warranty only, cannot send to authorized service center for repair if anything happen.

If anything happen to the speaker after 3 month, then is my own matter already.

Important note on rooting is, user use it as their own risk.
Any problem happen is user responsibility (crash, data lost, bricking phone, part damage, hijacking).
No promise or any guarantee on the ROM being flashed will be problem free.

help, anyone from Penang can help me to salvage my dad's bricked redmi note 3G?

important thing is to retrieve all the data inside.
*
Everything stored in phone? Or Micro SD card?
If has Micro SD card, then thing in the card won't lost.

But the thing inside the internal storage may be lost even if it is recovered back to life.

sad to say all stored in phone.
any chances of retrieving all the data?
*
I googling and found out this:

Reply from a person:

"I got seriously lucky. A repairing company took my phone in and tested it and said it couldn't be done. It was dead. Then an other company said - nah other companies quit too easily. Send it to us, if we can't repair it or you don't want to pay we will send it back to you for free. An offer too good to be true it seemed. Yet within a couple of days they told me they were now almost able to boot it but it failed just before the OS loaded. It showed to be a heating problem. This they solved by cooling it to -40 degree Celcius and now they were able to boot it up and recover the data. Phone was dead after that but I got what I needed - all the beautiful pictures of my baby daugther and the rest of the family. Most excellent service. A danish company though if anyone is looking for one let me know."

Only thing can do is to make the phone alive again without any flashing or recovery.
If not, there seems to be no way to retrieve the data.

Whatever you send to official service center, they will wipe all the data and your data is lost.

So far, only the auto restart bugging me.

The phone will force restart itself in the middle of using, just browsing website and Facebook.
It is not always happen, but noticeable happen, (happen more than my other phone).

It is still ok as not much important stuff is done on smartphone (nothing very important that need to save in the middle, may annoy in the middle of gaming), but it is a bug, nonetheless.

Hope Xiaomi can roll out new MIUI update to solve this issue.

This is the cheapest phone with Mediatek Helio X10 processor, with PowerVR G6200 Graphic chip.

Other phones that have the same processors:
HTC M9+
HTC E9+
Meizu MX5
Sony Xperia M5
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
LeTv S1 X600

Some has higher clock rate variant.
But at this price, this Redmi Note 2 seems is the best deal, almost half price, with Micro SD slot, dual dedicated sim, 4G, removable battery, Full HD screen.

Real life performance wise, it is just a bit slower than the Snapdragon 800 powered device. (not 801, not 805)
For me, this is the much better phone than Xiaomi Mi4i, Meizu M2 Note and Lenovo A7000 Plus. Closest clone to this phone is Lenovo A7000 Plus, but I prefer Xiaomi more than Lenovo, simply the Xiaomi feel more like a flagship device in term of overall hardware and software quality.

No problem on OTG with RN2, MIUI 7.1.1.0, works with all 3 of my OTG cables, can detect every pendrive, mouse and keyboard that I plugged in.

Not yet test on external HDD.
This post is written using wireless mouse and keyboard plugged into RN2 via OTG.

Praising time again.
So this phone real usage actually feel like using a Snapdragon 800 device.
So smooth and less lag. Apps actually load very fast, even with just 2GB ram.

No found any major bugs yet. Games, chatting apps, social apps and web browsing all are very smooth. Just that heavy game will lag a bit with graphic. Calling, sms also no problem.

The battery is a let down, but still at least 3 hour SOT before entering battery below 20% on mix usage. Already get ready power bank and charger plug for recharge.

Charging time is very fast, even with different vendor charger.

wanted to buy redmi note 2,

how do I know if the set I will buy is original Malaysia set with fully english firmware?
*
Real original Malaysia set comes with Global ROM, preloaded with GAPPS, Google Play.

Phone may label comes from Hong Kong.
After you buy, you can check the phone imei number with Xiaomi Malaysia chat support to verify your phone warranty.
