Hi guys,

my dad just bought a 2007 Persona (high specs dual airbags, ABS,EBD, steering wheel controls 1.6L S4PH) for himself without telling me, to replace his 1997 Proton Wira 1.5L Carb 4G15P that's been plagued with many problems over the years.

Car looks great given its age. By doing research, this car engine variant got problems by its torque dip with the low-medium speed. My dad drives slow in city driving, but goes 80-100kmps during highway long distance drive.

Overall is it still a great car? I also don't wanna break my dads heart since he likes the car so much.

Bought it for OTR price RM18K

i previously owned the 2007 with torque dip issue, in terms of power, the pick up for city drive 2-3k rm is slightly less punchy compared to the IAFM+ units. for highway, it is great and able to cruise without much issue. In terms of reliability, mine clocked over 200k km and still no sign of wear. Interior also intact and dashboard still look as good as day 1.  Overall its a great unit in terms of reliability of the engine components.
*
yeah I test drive the IAFM SE Unit last time, I also feel its much more responsive and lower speed. Bro, thanks for your honest opinion. Hope ours can be as reliable as yours.

Just feel abit of regret not getting the SE unit instead. Because got cruise control & IAFM engine. But the unit we bought the interior condition much better.

My mechanic has it. So just clip/stick it on. RM78 before GST. I think it's high but then again, he is middle man. If I went direct to Proton I guess it would be cheaper but the hassle would be more.
*
you're right. I regretted doing that.

Coolant + distilled/RO water to prevent rust.
*
it seems like everyone I know uses tap water. Even mechanics just pour tap water inside my car during service???

Ok distilled water I can buy from petronas. Coolant got any recommendations?? What ratio should I put?

If now I check my radiator the liquid is brownish in color means got rust right, what do I do first??

Back speakers what size for the bracket? Is it 6.5".

If so, is it possible to install 6x9 size speakers without cutting or modfying anything?

guys,

my second hand persona always stuck at first bar or below (70c & below).

I suspected thermostat is spoiled or removed. Brought to mechanic, really removed. So installed balik.

Now temperature still loitering around first bar, but will never go below, will go slightly up a bit (70c>75c I think). Is it normal optimal temperature for persona?? Because my close friend driving a persona as well, his one is one and a half bar.

All sifu pls help

it should be higher temp like u said 1 and half bar. im owner of persona too. but with the thermostat removed still able to make it at normal temp less than 2 mins

when my thermostat removed / installed back also max that temperature.

According to my mechanic, he said could be sensor problem. But asked me to ignore since thermostat is installed already, it will reach optimal temperature. If thermostat faulty, it confirm overheat. So its working fine.

I really see ALL personas is like 1 and a half some near 2. Mine is usually 1 and sometimes go a LITTLE bit higher than 1 only.

What you think bro

If during car overheat the meter will rise up then its okay just ignore it. If meter wouldnt rise up better spend money to fix. Last time same thing happened to me was a faulty temperature meter and my car was overheated without acknowledging until smoke came out from the engine. At the end total damaged to change engine costs 8k for alphard.
*
Before change was the temperature abnormally low?

Mine with / without thermostat the max temperature not really much difference just hotter a bit with thermostat. But with thermostat its rather obvious you can see the temperature will rise up more quickly in the morning as compared to no thermostat.

So I think the sensor just inaccurate not like totally not working at all.

some of the lights at my meter cluster are already WORN OUT. Some of the lights is flickering nonstop & pretty annoying. Went to some accessories shop to change the light bulb, but was told that the bulbs are all SEALED together inside the meter. Unable to remove, and if wanna fix I need to change the ENTIRE meter.

Any advice on how to solve this problem? If cannot change how I always see those ah beng mod their meter light colours to other colours like blue / red etc???

Accessory shops normally are able to mod it for u. They will need a heat gun or sort to open up those instrument cluster and soldering (Probably) to replace the LED. Normally only those bawah pokok mod ppl will do it. A good one i know that does these is Zoe Zen who operates a car boot lighting mod service in Ampang Point carpark.

thanks bro. You got any other recommendations around Subang / Sunway / Kota Kemuning / Putra Heights area?

I really feel my Proton Persona SE front especially very LOW. When go through those rock areas, always it will chip my front bodykit paint.

Any ideas how to make my car (front) higher? Cant change to adjustable absorbers as my absorbers just changed not long ago.

Will changing the springs do? If change, will it impact/affect anything like speed, picku- & FC?
