i found my problem , the noise from engine tapping "cit cit cit" when over 2800k rpm , not a iafm , iafm is at back of engine which i never boarder to change even the first day i received the car knowing iafm has this issue , but only happen to me 3rd year after warranty.

the cit cit cit sound is at front , suspect the valve, all the while i use Caltex Havoline EO, but lately i go use Castrol Magnetec for the last two lube change not sure does it made the sound, but performance is superb, i remember last few year the Castrol Magnectec oil never change dark easily but now the new one seems more easily to change dark colour in just >2k km use hmm.gif

recommend me any good campro engine service center to check this notworthy.gif

Hello to all the sifu's out there.

I just bought a 2009 Persona (1st gen, not special editions or elegance) with IAFM. it is a manual h-line. Need to ask for advice here.

1) my brake discs are quite thin. I think these are the original discs from the factory, and now it's not biting well. my dad says can skim but i think it's better to replace. any advice? if need to replace, i don't need performance parts, normal discs can already. any good brake shops to go to?

2) my engine starts to have a tak-tak-tak sound. I think it's the (in)famous iafm problem. Since the sound is quite soft, should I go to a workshop to repair it or should I replace it? for all the bros who replaced their iafm, did the problem come back again?

I was quoted at proton edar larkin in JB that the cost of replacement including labour is RM600+. I read from previous posts that RM300+ can gaodim everything with labour. Is the RM300+ quoted by a service centre? Should I replace at a service centre or go to 3rd party workshop? Is it true that later batches of iafm module uses thicker stronger plastic that won't crack?

3) I saw that there are some recommended service centres in the first post of this thread. any recommended SC's or 3rd party mechanics (good, professional service) in Johor? Likewise, any good, honest stockists in Johor to recommend?

4) can I use 5w30 engine oil in the persona?

So far I have used the car for 3 weeks, fuel consumption is about 12km/L, 30% city 70% highway. Hopefully it can improve after I send for servicing.

Btw I'm from singapore and I just got this car 2nd hand. Not too sure what the previous owner did or did not do but overall seems decent enough. this car is quite cold door here so I was hoping for some lobangs from this thread.

Thank you!

[COLOR=red]Highline dont have Manual. Highline only have auto only

if thin then dont skim.

[COLOR=red]repair 1st.

[COLOR=red]now no more 300+ already. The IAFM manifold already 5xx not include labour

[COLOR=red]Can, if your car dint makan engine oil or no leaking.

OE replacements:

Gates Timing Belt Kit ( Two Oil Seal, one Tensioner Bearing, one Timing Belt) - RM110+-
Labour - RM100 ~ RM120
Water Pump - RM100
Proton Coolant - RM20 ~ RM30

Off topic:

So many f**king retarded K, M, P and C drivers around Klang Valley these days. Either hog the right lane, hog two lanes cause they don't know where to go, or simply park on the main road.

Not sure about the cost, but ideally you should be changing the following:

I recommend Zordaq Motorsport if you have no other workshops in mind, but they're kinda short of manpower.

I thought X1R is bad cause it causes sludge to build up? hmm.gif

Same. Forgot about A plates also. A plate Perdana don't want to give way on highway from Klang when middle lane is empty. I switch to middle then someone switch from left to middle so I had to brake. Then he start speeding up but in the end still have to give way to a Volvo that was flying.

I see. I used Ceratec + the WS2 Nano thing last time. My engine is much quieter than it was, and it lost the aggressive acceleration growl.
