1 calendar month is calculated based on : 1st to last date of the month. Hence, if you'd submitted your resignation on 19 Oct 2006 having to give 3 months notice, your last day should rightfully be 18 Jan 2007.

Next, look at your leave entitlement. You said you have 23 days left. Assuming you can use your leave to get out earlier, and no leave is taken from date of resignation, your last working day should be 18 Jan minus 23 working days [u are still entitled to any/all public holidays between 19 Oct - 18 Jan; 25 Dec, 1 Jan, etc].

Since you mentioned your boss has refused to allow you to utilise your leave, your remaining 23 days of leave should be given back to you in $. If you speak to your boss properly, I'm sure they will allow you to leave earlier; u will surely b able to find a way of compromisation. Look at it from his view that he has yet to find a replacement, but also tell him you need to go off by X date.

PS: If it helps, tell your boss' sister that a month-long campaign on media is calculated from 3 March to 2 April, and not 3 March to 3 April. She's just being a bully that's all. Or maybe she likes you so much she just doesn't want you to leave? drool.gif
