Dear All,

May I ask if anyone has any recommended Doctors/Surgeons whom are able to perform Knee Replacement Surgery (arthroplasty) for a patient whom suffers from Osteoperosis and is 68yrs of age.

I've done some homework thus far and have found:

a) Cost is generally determined by the Type if Implant (Grade 1, 2, & 3).
b) Cost is also affected by the choice of Government Funded Hospitals (GH) or Private Clinic/Hospitals (PH).
c) Current cost for one Knee Replacement Surgery ranges from RM 18K (for GH) ~ RM 30K (for PH).

Kindly provide me with some advice/opinion as to which/where/who is best to approach for such exercise.

Thanking you all in advance for the time and effort.

I can get you TKR under private wing for ~10k all inclusive.

Admitted one day before, and usually will be discharge 3 days post op.

Done fully by Orthopedic Specialist.

Just double checked with the surgeon himself, it will be RM 15k (approx) which include implant + surgery + hospitalization (meds etc).

hi

my grandmother just got her knee replaced few months ago in UMSC by Dr Chan Chee Ken
i really appreciated his time and caring attitude...his advise is always for the PATIENT and not for the money...
the surgery fee cost about 25 K...but bear in mind my grandmother is 80 plus and had some medical problem which had to be sorted out before the operation

before him we sought medical advise from a few other orthopaedic surgeon but they only see us for 5 mins and charges was exorbitant ...and we think that surgeon is the main factor in ensuring a good outcome for surgery.

we were very happy with the outcome of the surgery and follow -up...grandma walk after day three of surgery.now she is back to her active self again..

just my simple way to thank him ...by advertising for him in this forum.... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

can call umsc 603 7841 4000 to make appoint to see him.

Thanks for suggesting this doctor! I have consulted like 6 doctors in the past 1 year on various issues. This is the first doctor that I find is actually kind and helpful. The rest is just doing their job and trying very hard not to click with the patient. Doctor Chan is different. He is friendly and even extent his help with whatsapp.

I wholehearted recommend this doctor to anyone who is looking for Orthopedic.

Thank you for the info-share.
If you don't mind, could you please advise:

1) What sort of procedure did you undergo?
2) Your/Patient's age?
3) What were the symptoms prior to procedure (bowed legs, joint aches, swelling, impaired mobility, etc.)?
4) What are the results after?
5) How much was the cost involved (rough breakdown, where possible)?

Thanking you in advance.
