hi to all DOTA fans out there

i have a problem and it only happens with DOTA

My (brother's) laptop used to be able to play Warcraft3/dota smoothly but now "in game" lags like mad, its like it jerks and jerks...all settings are low

but when starting windows, entering Frozen thorne menu, loading DOTA no lag and very fast. Even when playing build base map, it lags...why ahh?

the Laptop is DELL inspiron 600m, the specs are :

Pentium 4 1.4GHz
1gb RAM
ATI RADEON 9000

i scan with LAVASOFT and deleted everything and it still lags

dawn of war dark crusade runs fine with medium settings

some of the map can make ur pc lag.try other maps

specs look pretty good to me, i'd say it's spyware/malware running behind the scenes. Get some other scanner like Spybot SnD and check it out too. Check the Task Manager and see if anything is hogging a significant amount of processor time.

Hey guys out there, i found out the problem

turns out that its gotta do with the graphics...i dunno the process but u need copy the FT.exe file on ur desktop, go properties, at the directory add -openGL

for example

"D:\GAMES ONLY\Warcraft 3\Warcraft III\Frozen Throne.exe -openGL"

then only ingame smooth

so problem solved

which FT.exe u mean?
coz im having the same problem..
now the graphics like matrix mode..

how to solve it??? what openGL? wat is FT.exe? i also having the same problem ><
i'm using desktop and my graphic card is ATI x1650pro but stil will lag when go to dota.....and i set all the setting to lowest liao >< my ram is 1G

Your system spec is more than enough for setting everything to high in WC. Even Intel integrated graphic can do that.

Did you install your graphic card driver? That graphic card also lag meh?

er....did u set any anti aliasing or stuff like that? update gc driver?

just to ask something.

my pc spec is athlon mp 1700 512mb ram and geforce 2mx400 is it posible for me to play dota at 800x600 mode with all high detail?

High detail with GF2? I say no. It'll be laggy.

My Geforce 2 GTS runs on medium detail at 1024x768. High detail on your card will probably not be playable

just tried with dota. high detail on 800x600 no lag at all. will it because mine is geforce 2 mx400 64mb 128bit?

ur ati is using shared memory. try adjust ur shared memory higher to 256 mb if possible

okay just to update.
if your graphic lags/jerks...its because of DirectX version
get DirectX version 9.0c.

Since you said -OpenGL works fine..means your directx got problem

get the latest DirectX and it should work. then you dont need the -OpenGL at your shortcut any more.
