It was reported that Asian universities from Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, occupied all six top spots in the list followed by universities from the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Spain which ranked
seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth, respectively.
The top 3 spots were taken by Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Hong Kong University of Science (Hong Kong) and Technology and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Korea).
While our universities failed to make it into the top 10, four public universities did appear in the top 50 rankings, with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) gaining the highest ranking at 26th, Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia (UTM) at 30th, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) at 32th and Universiti Putra Malaysia at 38th.

That NUS is not there but NTU is ranked higher is odd isn't it. There's no university from the USA? Whatever happened to Stanford, MIT, Caltech, etc?
Where did you hear this? No link?

Doubt this is true, even source isn't provided. edited: just saw the post above, apparently it's this: http://www.topuniversities.com/top-50-unde...s=false+search=This post has been edited by Cookiies: Nov 25 2015, 09:39 PM

QUOTE(Manada @ Nov 25 2015, 07:13 PM) Its top 50 under 50. Top 50 universities under 50 years old. Good job btw! So proud! That makes a lot of sense. So not top 50 university in the world. But only top 50 among universities less than 50 years old. "age-group" rather than the "open" category. Still kind of good to hear. The only fly in the ointment is that I kind of, sort of, remember something from last year about complaints that too many Malaysian universities didn't bother entering this ranking, with the result that few were ranked. It seems that QS don't simply rank all existing universities in the world. The universities themselves have to do something to "enter the ranking". So if some good young universities in other countries didn't bother to "enter" then our local universities could end up ranking higher than they should ...
