Thanks tongue.gif Brandon Peterek, over at headfi. One of my contacts in the States recommended him. You can see some of the other stuff he's done here

There's a few TH-X00 mods there as well. At the same time asked him to test it for me, so if any issue can RMA it directly before shipping back rclxms.gif

May I ask how much does he charge for the conversion? Besides fitting the TH-X00 earcups fitted with mini XLR connectors, are you converting the existing cables as well or got entirely new cables terminated for balanced XLR connection (I assume)?

I already have my own upgrade cables from MIT and DHC, actually not planning to keep the stock cable, might reterminate it and give it to a friend. As for the prices, he quoted me in USD, but better talk to him directly on what you need. PM me if you would like his email

EDIT: That's the reason I went with the mini-XLR, already have good cables at home, so can repurpose them as needed.

Nevermind. Thanks anyway. I was tempted to jump on the bandwagon but the non-interchangeable cables held me back. Never came across my mind to have the cups replaced with mini XLRs. That would have probably made me poorer. sweat.gif

Even if you spend RM1 you're poorer than you were before bro  tongue.gif But I think it's worth it, the stock cable looks like it's too long and unwieldy, and all those expensive cables sitting around unused. Thinking of having the stock cable reterminated for the HE-400S with balanced 3.5mm, but see if any of my friends want it first.
*
Wah. I wish I had expensive cables lying around... biggrin.gif

I should have elaborated further and mentioned that because I did not think of having the cups modified to mini XLRs, that saved me from getting the TH-X00. If I had discovered about the possibility of changing to mini XLRs, I would have succumb to the temptation and would definitely have made me poorer. No thanks to the exchange rates.

In this hobby, sometimes nothing can save you. It was too late for me ever since I first read about prototypes of the TH-X00 being shown at shows tongue.gif
*
I know. On the hindsight, at that point of time you think the decision "saved" you from buying only to revisit it later and buy it at a higher price or when the exchange rates suck. cry.gif

I would have waited if it was a HD800S or TH-900, this ain't too bad. Gonna be sending in my T1 next.

Headphones like the HD800/HD800s should not have to do anything right since their cables are removable anyways...

Nobody is ever the only one to own anything in Malaysia. First to get hands on, maybe. Only one? No.

Hehehe is that the reason why you always buy two? 1st and 2nd person to get. flex.gif

i can confirm th-x00 is not a great match for violectric v200/v800 stack (clone, but 1:1 so not much differences there{supposedly lol}).

the highs r just too sharp, much much sharper than hd800 and beyer t1.
*
The higher frequencies more piercing than HD800? Is the TH-X00 naturally like that? I read they are recessed in the mids and more bass heavy.

So I guess I have to prepare the 21% out of $200 when the AKG arrives  laugh.gif
*
Not exactly 21%. It's 21.9% (1.15 x 1.06) because it's compounded. Also, it's 21.9% on top of CIF (Cost Insurance Freight). They'll add DHL freight cost and for insurance cost, they'll estimate as 1% of the price if it's not mentioned.

Then another RM 50 or so goes into DHL's pocket for contacting you and putting it all nicely for you to pay.

no idea, but yea, the highs r much more ear-piercing that my previously owned hd800 and t1. which is why ive sold it after a week owning it lol.

that being said, everything else is superb. too bad it just doesnt match my amp/dac setup. but i heard thx00 has excellent synergy with grace m9xx massdrop
*
Yup, it's all about synergy.

So if I get taxed then DHL will pay it for me and I'll pay them later right? I remember buying football boots from Prodirect UK back in the days, it was Rm2k overall, and the tax was RM200 only.. How I wish it was still that simple laugh.gif
*
Yes, DHL will call you first and tell you how much you have to pay and if you agree to it. They will even email you the necessary info and how to bank money into their account or COD.
