It says there the drop is limited to 2000 units, but there are more than 2400 requests as of now.

100% of the time the number of request does not equal the number of people who'll actually join the drop. I'm pretty sure it'll take at least a day or 2 for the drop to be sold out.

I doubt it, requests are for items that will need to be prepared for sale again. People who have been watching this from the start (especially the forum communities) know exactly when it will be up for sale, and hence will not request it. Requests are a good way to get the automated email notification once the sale is live though.

In this case it'll be 99% yes, you'll get duty taxed of at least 11% (6+5). They'll be using DHL and they will be declaring at $399 value. It'll be a 1% miracle if you get to avoid tax especially from courier services like DHL and Fedex.

You could opt to ship through a us based freight forwarder. Only exception is if the vendor included a commercial invoice then it's no running from under declration.

I ordered a tonearm once for about RM1100 but no tax and arrived straight to my house. Sometimes they tax you, sometimes it slips through.

I once ordered the iPad Air from the States, along with a new case in the same shipment. They didn't tax the iPad, taxed me RM15 for the case. Go figure

The cut-off amount is RM500 la, and anything above that you'll have chances to get taxed. My friend once had a headphone from Japan get stuck, I checked with him, they charged 15% of retail including "sales tax", even though it's meant for personal use. No use trying to explain to them, unless you have friends there

15% (10+5) was the old duty before GST. And RM500 is just the baseline, but that doesn't stop them from taxing you if they want to. I got taxed for an earphone which cost RM400 including shipping, go figure.
As i said, with DHL and Fedex, it's 99% guaranteed tax if exceeding baseline. If it's through USPS or other national postage, there's a 50% chance you'll get away with it as our custom officers at times are lazy bummers.

Whether it's personal or business, you're still oblige to pay whatever duties/taxes you're due.

RM500 is a baseline tax on the likelyhood you can get tax, I've had items >RM1000 not paying a single tax. On the other hand I had an amp with a declaration of $1000 declared as a "headphone" which had a different tariff heading which had a lower tax rate.

Taxes is normally calculated based on what the commercial invoice retail price + (shipping & insurance) of your shipping choice.

Like Lego Warfare mentioned, I've had bad experiences shipping through FedEx where they overdeclared an item I ordered years ago which I ended up paying about RM100 more than I intended to. No issues with DHL and EMS though EMS has a higher chance of escaping taxes (had one amp just delivered escaping the whole taxable amount).
